Looking for a Good Obgyn - Olathe,KS

I am looking for suggestions for an obgyn. when i was pregnant i went to bavishi at olathe medical center, she was fine but there wasn't really that "click" i had hoped for. i didn't really feel like i got real personal attention, if you know what i mean? it was my first pregnancy, and i was shy and uncomfortable, and she didn't really do much to get to know me personally or make me feel more comfortable. she was perfectly nice, we just didn't "click" like i said. i am a more introverted person and i do better with more extroverted type people. anyway, i am looking at the olathe medical center website and it looks like she's the only one on sight...but there is a dr. estrada who is close by. i am simply picking a name here because i don't know these people. if anyone can tell me about her, or has any other suggestions, i'd be grateful. i seriously need to get back on birth control (normally now i am spotting for a full week then a full 5 day period, EVERY month) and i think this is a good time to find a new ob. thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I see Estrada. I have had no problems with her at all. She worked very well with me. I know a lot of people who see Snider. He actaully delivered baby #3 and did a great job! Both are super nice!

Dr. Snider and Dr. Estrada are both great. Dr. Snider has been my ob/gyn since I was pregnant with my first who is now 9. I don't know if they still do, but they used to share call with Dr. Bavishi, because she delivered my S. child. Dr. Estrada delivered my first and Dr. Snider delivered my third.

Dr. Snider is my favorite. He is awesome, but I like Estrada too. Just know that if they still share call with Bavishi, you might end up having her deliver you.

Good luck.

I also recommend Dr. Tami Michelle and Kelly Fritz. I had the same experience you did with Dr. Bavishi and wanted someone who would give a little more attention. I was very impressed with their office and Kelly spent an hour with me at my visit. They are part of the Olathe Med. Center group and are located off of 159th and Murlen. You can look them up on the Olathe Med. Center website. Good luck to you and hope you find someone you like!

I can't personally give any real advice on Dr Estrada i have heard both good and bad about her. I go see Dr. Peck. He is male and I don't know if you care or not if your OB is male or female. He was my ob for my last daughter and I see him still as my Gyn. Still to this day..almost 5 years later..every time I go in he asks me about my girls and even remembers how old they all are..even the ones he didn't deliver. This last year he just went into practice by himself, but is still in the Dr. Building right next to Olathe Medical. If you are interested in his info please let me know and I will be glad to get it for you (sorry I would have to look it up and don't have it with me right now). I think that he is a great doctor and has always listened to all of my concerns and treats me like a person not just another patient. J. ____@____.com

Hi Carrie,
I go to Dr. Estrada's office, her partner Dr. Snider is actually my doc but I've been to Dr. Estrada and she's a great doctor. She's pretty talkative and informational, if you have questions, she's your woman! They are both really great doctors and are well-known in Olathe. I hope this helps, take care!

My patients love Dr. Tami Michele and her midwife, Kelly Fritz. Their office is Arbor Creek OB/GYN, and they are at 159th & Mur-Len (not too far from the hospital). I don't have access to their phone number at the moment, but I think you can google them pretty easily.

Yours in health,
Dr. Alyssa

I would totally agree with the people who said to see Dr. Tami Michele or Kelly Fritz, the midwife. I saw Kelly with my first pregnancy. She was amazing! She spent hours with me and never made me feel rushed or that I was asking dumb questions. Most of the time she asked me if I'd thought of such and such. She was helping me learn about my body, and helping me think of questions I hadn't thought of asking before. Unfortunately, I went into premature labor and she couldn't deliver my baby. Dr. Michele wasn't in practice at that time, but everyone I know that has used her loved her. Kelly followed up with me after I had the baby and she was ssooo compassionate when I had a miscarriage. She will be my OBGYN for life!!! She even gave me her cell phone number after my miscarriage if I had questions or concerns after hours. I feel like I could call her with anything! I would also recommend having a doula during your delivery. I used Sally Riley and she's awesome! I'd be happy to get her phone number if you are interested!

Good luck!

I don't know anything about Dr. Estrada, although my sister in law and mother in law go there and love it. I go to Dr. Doug MacFarlane, and I think he is the greatest. He always has taken the time to get to know ME and my family, always asks how they are and wants up to speed on them, since I only see him once a year for my pap. He has a great bedside manner and instructs his nurses when it was delivery time that I was the boss to do what my wishes were. I can't say enough about him. Good luck on your search.

You may have already found one, but I had to respond. I love my OBGYN-Dr. James Mirabile. He has an office in Louisburg and one on Quivera and 106th (across from Overland Park Regional Med. Center). I had been with the Women's Healthcare Group since I was a teenager. Unfortunately when I was pregnant with my third child, my doctor had to retire in the middle of my pregnancy. I only had 2 months until delivery, but I had always said that if my doctor ever stopped delivering babies, then I would switch to Dr. Mirabile, so I did. HE IS WONDERFUL!! He makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world all of the time. The entire staff in both of their offices are kind, caring, and there for YOU. I have several friends that have gone to him over the years as they struggled with fertility issues and all of them have at least 2 babies now. My husband actually didn't even meet Dr. Mirabile until we were in the delivery room and he loved him too. (and my husband is hard to please!!) Hope you find someone that you love, even if you have to drive a little, it makes all the difference! Good luck!

Hi Carrie,

I go to the KC Women's Clinic and I LOVE their practice! My Dr. is Dr. Nguyen, and I also highly recommend Dr. Newby, Dr. Smith, Dr. Wright, and Dr. Nichols. They are all so nice, and although those are the only ones I've personally been to, I've heard great things about all of the other doctor's in that practice as well. They have offices in the Quivira Medical Plaza at 435 and Quivira as well as in St. Luke's South. I started going there before I was even married and now this is my S. pregnancy and they have been great. :)

Look under the business reviews and read what people have written under ob/gyn. Thats a great start. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lynch at Johnson County OBGYN. He is great. He spent 1 1/2 hours talking with me and trying to figure out my problem and he was suppose to leave at 4:00 but stayed until my test results came, and scheduled an emergency surgery the next day. All this was on my first visit. I always went to a woman before and would not go to a man but I had a problem and had to switch to a different practice and he was the only one that could get me in immediately. I wish I had been going there all along!###-###-####

Dr. Eric Peck is my OBGYN. He works at Olathe Medical Center as well. He was my doctor for both of my children (3 years old and 5 months old). I've referred several of my friends to him as well. I like him because he is "to the point." He doesn't try to sugar coat things, just says them like they are. Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not? His number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

Hi Carrie,
I go to Women's Clinic of Johnson County. They are an all female staff and they all have different personalities. Here is the webpage http://www.wcjcobgyn.com/ I go to Dr. Lombard. She is outgoing and funny and actually takes the time to talk to you. There are 2 offices that they all work out of so that might make it more convenient. Good luck with your search.

I actually go to the same practice that Dr. Estrada is in, but go to her partner, Dr. Bruce Snider. I have been going to him for about 8 or 9 years. I think he is great and have never had any complaints. Dr. Estrada actually delivered my first child though (C-section) because Dr. Snider was out of town. I thought she was very nice, but couldn't tell you too much about her.

I have gone to Dr. Stone at The Women's Healthcare Group
in Overland Park (next to Overland Park Regional) for over 20 years. When I am not able to see her, I see one of the mid-wifes (they are all great!). I had gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia when I was pregnant and Dr. Stone was absolutely wonderful--she practically lives at her office and Overland Park Regional. She is very caring and I cannot praise her enough!!! Their website is: www.whcg.org/women/ and their phone number is: ###-###-####.

I started going to Dr. Snider when I found out I was pregnant. He is in the same office as Dr. Estrada and I actually picked their office because I liked the looks of both of them on the Olathe Health System web-site and was not finding that I liked the looks of all the doctors in other offices. I was really happy with him for my pregnancy with pre-eclempsia and twins. He is very laid back. He made me feel comfortable even when there were complications and he always took time to ask what questions I had and never made me feel rushed.
