Hello Mommies!
I think I may be getting a Barnes n Noble gift card for Christmas. I haven't read a really good fiction book in a very long time. With three boys (youngest being disabled) I don't have much time to read but when I do I like to read the good ones! Any suggestions? If you have a really good nonfiction story recommendation, I'll take that too! Thanks for the help to set me up for a much awaited Mommy moment with some tea and a good read. I can imagine it now... Thanks for responding!

What can I do next?

Nora Roberts is good, I know I know....a little romance but not too mushy, and the Chicken Soup for the Soul books are good i agree with the other mommy who suggested it. Good for you it's something all for you, it's such a good relaxation tool!...Happy Reading!

It's always great to read, even if it's ten minutes at night or waiting to pick kids up from school. so worth it to make the time for.

Non-fiction:
"Front of The Class" by David Cohen. this was just a Hallmark movie. it's about a teacher with Tourette Syndrome.
Jenny McCarthy has books about mothers and children with special needs.

ficiton: I'm in a book club-there are so many..

"The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. this has been the favorite of the club. Impossible to put down. part of a series but this is the best one and can be read separate from the series. this is a wonderful book to lose yourself in but long.

"Snowflower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. Fascinating about early china and it's customs-including foot binding OUCH

"The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. A wonderful love story

"The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant. A great read about biblical times and the story of Dinah, daughter of Jacob. This coud be offensive to those who are very devout in their christian faith.

Other book club faves have been "My Sister's Keeper" and The Memory keeper's Daughter" though I have not read these.

**update- Our next book is "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen

Two of my all time favorites are:
"The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks. A quick read that will need lots of tissues. Even better than the movie!
"Like Water for Choclate" by Linda Esquivel.. A story about family loyalty and love set in Mexico of old. Also a quick read.

Happy reading. good luck with the rats too. they make great pets. Just be sure they are of the same sex or you'll be well stocked in babies!

Go to www.barnesandnoble.com

They have a "review" section you can click on.

Like yourself, I love to read, but have hardly done so since having my first child 6 years ago! LOL! So I wouldn't know what books are popular right now.

Or, you can always buy the Oprah book of the month... visit her website and you can see what books she has picked.

Good luck!
Susan

I am big reader. I love Janet Evanovich's 'number' series. The main character is Stephanie Plum and they are laugh out loud funny. Good reads. Another great author is Sue Grafton, love her stuff. Her series is set in 'Santa Theresa' which is really Santa Barbara. I am reading the sequel to Friday Night Knitting Club (which is wonderful), Knit Two. And so far love it as much as the first one.

Hi
I loved "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. Easy reading, and it seems like everyone is reading it these days.
Good luck

I'm a Harry Potter addict, personally - so if you haven't read them, then do!

I also loved Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger (author of The Devil Wears Prada - another good one!) The Scarlet Pimpernel's a classic, and Dan Brown's Angel & Demons and The DaVinci Code (I'm Catholic, and although I don't necessarily agree with them, they are good reads!)

I like a simple light hearted mystery series myself. Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich, Sharon Fiffer all have great series. They are funny too.

I just finished reading The Shack by William Young, that was a great book. Jodi Picoult novels are always great too.

I am addicted to the "chicken soup for the soul" books. They have something for everyone - they even have a "chicken soup for the mother's soul 1 & 2"!! They are great because you can read just one or two stories one day, and then even if you don't get to your book again for a week or so, you're not "lost" in your story when you start up again - great for busy moms who may have time to read one day, but not the next!! ;)
