Lipstick Recommendation Needed

. Does anyone know of a good lipstick that does NOT dry out the lips, but also has good staying power? I am not sure if I suddenly have ultra dry lips of if the lipsticks & glosses I have been using are doing this to me. I have lip glosses from Bath & Body Works and I have tried most of the Cover Girl & Lorele long staying lipsticks. I feel like if I wear the lipstick over the weekend, my lips are soooooooooooo dry for the next week. I don't even wear lipstick to work anymore because of the chapping.

Do you know of any good lip products that not only stay on, but have something to keep the lips moisturized? I don't care about spending a little more if I can get a good product.

Thanks!

I personally use the cover girl long lasting lip stick but instead of using the gloss that comes with is I use carmex. I also use carmex before I go to sleep at night when my lips are really bad, it has meds in it to help dry champed and sore lips.

I like Origins. They have a counter in Macy's at Vriarwood in Ann Arbor or an actual store in 12 oaks i believe. www.origins.com

clinique or lancomb. go to the mall closest to you and have them give you a free makeover-tell them what you are looking for. Look for the bonus time --so you get the bag of goodies (usually 1-2 full size lipsticks in there ). you wont regret the extra $. BIG difference in quality.

I use a berts bees chapstick, and I drink a lot of water for chapping.

good luck!

For me, I prefer to use lip stains as it doesn't affect the lip tissue like lip sticks do. One reason your lips are drying out (or the skin on the body) is due to the ingredients in the products used.

The biggest culprits are: Mineral Oil, Lanolin, Grapeseed and Patroleum (or think of the Vaseline Jelly). These just sit on your skin and blocks the pores. They are the worse for your skin. A few of these ingredients are actually harmful to the skin (more women are experiencing lip issues with the dermatologist due to sun exposure and a few other issues from the products.) These oils also dry out the skin on your body just as much - even with frequent applications.

For myself, I either make a lip balm to go over the stain, make my own stain, or go into the health food store to purchase a quality product that does not contain the above ingredients. When I make the balm myself, it actually works better than anything I have purchased in the stores and I love customizing it to what I need or my son needs. (My son and I are looking forward to making my next batch as I am including Pumpkin oil in it!)

You can easily find a recipe for a regular home-made 'lip' balm online or in a book at the bookstore/ library. It's rather inexpensive to make and it's versatile enough to use on cuticles and other dry skin areas. You only need a few basic ingredients. :)

Otherwise - get ready for a bombardment of websites / email addresses coming your way from those selling products. (I personally don't care for those in a response unless it is asked for directly.)

Morning...to me Carmex is the BEST for chapped lips you can buy it at any drug store...I use it all winter and nothing bothers my lips anymore. Just put it on before you go to sleep at night and then if you need it during the day. Also I use Mac lipstick. I dont use gloss very often and if I do it goes over lipstick. The lipstick is around 11-15.00 a little pricey compared to loreal which is around 8-10.00 but it is worth the extra money. The lipstick is great:) Good luck.

I like the regular Cover Girl lipsticks, but in the wintertime, I generally put a coat of Avon lip balm or Carmex over top of it. Seems to work for me...

I have not worn lipstick since I learned how it was made. I finally found Burt's Bees. I love it! First, they come in all different shades, second, there is actually color just like in lipstick, and third, it has that tingly minty sting/smell to it so your lips don't dry out. It's like a cross between lipstick and chapstick and they're only 4 bux a piece!

Hi M.,
You sound like me a few years ago.... I was in desperate need of something for my lips that would stay there and keep them moist.
I found an AVON representative and found the solution.
I loved all the products soooooo much that I decided to become an AVON Rep. myself. here is my direct AVON website
www.youravon.com/ctranchida check it out and see what you can find. There are some AWESOME lipsticks and lip gloss products. Besides alot of other things, foundations, eyeshadow, face creams (I LOVE the ANEW line and wrinkle corector). The really great thing about it is if you don't like the color of product or even just the prodaut it self you can return it.
I live in Milford and have many samples if you see a color that you would like to try let me know and I can get it to you. If you want to order something but not on line, also let me know - my next order is placed on Thursday the 6th of November.
Please give this a try, you won't find anything like these products and they are EXTREMELY reasonable.
Thank you, C.

I happened to come upon something purely by chance. I picked up some Nivea Kiss of Flavor tinted lip balm when it was free after rebate at the drug store and it is now my lip color of choice! I think they only have two colors but it gives your lips a pink tint and it is very moisturizing. I wear it all the time, except for special occasions where I may need a little something extra.

Here is a link - http://www.niveausa.com/products/show/A%20Kiss%20of%20Fla... - I used to struggle with dry lips and now I never have a problem with them being chapped unless I'm sick.

Aquafor made by Eucerine on your lips every night before you go to bed is the best. It's like vaseline, only better. Plus I use it on my nails when the cuticals or skin gets super dry. My derm. recommended this when my lips got so dry and nothing was working, not even neosporin.
I love MAC lipstick. It's not cheep (like $15 a tube) but it's awesome!
