Hi moms...

Just wondering when everyone stopped using special baby detergent and washing baby's clothes separate from the rest of the family's. Even though this is my 4th child, these little details somehow are lost in my memory...thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for your input. I have a bottle of ALL baby detergent and when that's gone, I'll start integrating her stuff with ours. It's actually not been that big a deal to wash her stuff separate and is kinda nice since she generates SO MUCH (she's a spitter upper and seems to poop out the side of her bottom!) I always have a full load before we run out of anything. Thanks again moms!

Baby detergent is not necessary at all. I just use the unscented detergent and have never had a problem.

I have always put the baby clothes in with ours! We use any of the "Free & Clear" detergents. It has never made a difference.

I started using Tide Free (in the white bottle) at around 5 months. It cost the same as regular Tide and I didn't go broke like when I bought Dreft!

I don't know how much it really matters, unless your child has sensitive skin or a reaction to regular soap. We usually use All. I received a gift of some Shaklee laundry soap and brightener and that has also seemed fine. The brightener is an enzyme based product.... and it has helped me out this week with all my little sickies.

You can probably use regular detergent now, unless your baby has sensitive skin. You can also use any detergent that doesn't have any dyes or perfumes in it. All is a good one. I've found that regular detergent takes the stains out MUCH better than any of the free and clear kinds. We just use less detergent to make sure that it washes totally out. You could try it on a load and if she has no reaction, keep using the regular stuff.

I never used Dreft ~ I always used Tide HE. I had read somewhere that it's not necessary. They did recommend when using regular detergent to run the baby's clothes through an extra rinse cycle just to make sure all the detergent doesn't remain in the clothes in case your child has a reaction.

For my son child I used dreft for about 31/2 years:)
My daughter I used dreft for 5 months, then one day accidentally I put her clothes in with ours (using Tide), and from that day on, I stopped with the dreft! Happy holidays!

After we finished our first big container of Dreft I tried the regular detergent for one load (probably around 4 or 5 months)and when there wasn't any sort of reaction I continued to use the regular detergent.

For my first child, I used it for about a year. For my second child, I didn't use it at all!

I have always done everyone's laudry in all. Deft was too expensive and from what I gather, the same clean clothes results.
