Laser Hair Removal?

Hi Moms!
I was wondering if any of you have had laser hair removal - specifically to the bikini line. Ever since I had my son 4 months ago my razor burn has been awful and I am not sure what to do about it. The idea of never shaving again really appeals to me so I wanted to see what you all think. I tried waxing once but I itched for weeks and got several ingrown hairs. I have heard that the laser can hurt and that you need to go back for several treatments and possibly years later, too.
Thanks ladies!
T.

I had it done a few years back. During the treatments I had to stop, some personal problems with my husband, who's now my ex! Anyway I only had 3 sessions and it is so much better even though I did not finish. I hardly have any hair left and it is much easier to shave and no razor burn. I also read at about the same time you should shave every day and only one pass to cut down on razor burn, just a tip:) I plan on going back to finish when I get some money saved up. It hurts a bit, you get basically burned during the procedure but I kept going back so its obviously not that bad. Make sure you go to a reputable place, I've heard some horror stories about scarring.

Hi T.
I didn't try it but my friend did her under arms, she loves it. It depends on how dark your hair is, the darker the better and faster, but on average the lady who we went to my friend and I said it may take 6-8 sessions. But the results are amazing. God luck if you want to do it!

Hi T.!

I have had laser hair removal on my upper lip/chin, bikini area, underarms, and legs. I must warn you that you most likely will still have to shave even after you are done with your treatments. I had between 6 or 7 treatments on all of those areas and there is certainly less hair than before and the areas are much smoother and I don't get ingrown hairs and razor burn as much. But I still have to shave at least every other day. And I spend as much time as ever plucking hair from my upper lip and chin, that part was the most disappointing of all.

As far as pain, I was so scared about the bikini area too, but it turned out not to be so bad at all. I didn't do a brazilian so the laser wasn't aimed at the most delicate areas though, I'm not sure if that would make much difference. The only area that I found painful was my underarms for some reason. I had no idea how sensitive they were!

Anyway, in retrospect I'm not sure if I would have spent the money because it is pretty expensive and I'm still shaving and plucking. Good luck with your decision!

I wanted to add that I have very dark hair and skin so light it is practically translucent, so I should have been the perfect candidate for laser hair removal.

I am also looking into having this done. My cousin had it done and she loved it. She had 3 sessions of her bikini line done and it never grew back. ALso she had her underarms done. 1 session I belive. I am hoping to have this done for my 30th BDAY in May. My Gyno office at Delnor Hospital in Geneva Offers this and I will probably have it done there. Cost is $600 for 4-5 sessions. I am still looking to see if anyone else is cheaper out there. I will let you know if I find any better deals.

Hi T.,

I began having laser hair removal about 5yrs ago. My sister-in-law own her own hair removal business. They say it takes about 6-8 treatments (depends on your hair). I have had about 6 treatments on my whole body (eyebrows, upper lip, legs, bikini, underarm). I noticed a major difference with the 1st treatment. Areas are much smoother. To this day I only shave 1x/week and that is because I see sparatic hairs...know one else notices them. I also still pluck...but very sparatically.

I say it is very much so worth it. I will highly recommend it for my 2 girls when they are old enough. I believe you can go in for consultations...hair growth is different for each individual.

Hope this helps ya out.
