I love the labels from Mabel's Labels in Canada. I started buying them to label bottles and pacifiers for daycare. I've used their Classic Sticky Labels for everything from bottles to clothes to toys. No problem running them through the dishwasher or washing machine. Depending on the material they are stuck to, there is little or no residue.

I always see super cute ads for labels in the back of Parents Magazine. I don't know the websites, but you could probably google 'labels' and find a ton of resources. I've also heard of people donating a small sum of money to March of Dimes or Humane Society in their child's name and then they constantly send you address labels with the person's name who donated (in this case your child), and they used those for their labels...it is pretty perfect b/c it includes name and address!

I did sharpie on everything where it *couldn't* be seen easily. Including my cell number

We used to use a sharpie on the inside of the Backpack, lunch box, ect.. Then I purchase Iron on labels for clothing.. And used the fabric pens..

Now they make label makers so some people even label rulers, scissors, pencils, crayon boxes.. I know some kinder classes, just put all of the supplies together to make classroom sets, so no one has to worry about their own pair of scissors, crayons.. etc..
