We are contemplating a weekend getaway to either Key Lime Cove or Great Wolf Lodge. We have checked out their websites and really can't decide which one is better. Please let me know if you have been to either one and the pros and cons of each. Thanks!

Do you mean Great Wolf Lodge? I haven't heard of Great Bear. Anyway- Great wolf is a great place. We have one about 500 yards from our house, and we've gone 3 times. The water park is hours of fun. They have a bakery to die for. All meals we've had there have been great - from pizza to their (rather expensive) buffet. They have a kids corner where they can stay and the parents can get away alone for a few. We would go back one hundred times.

The Great Wolf. I've stayed at GWL in the dells - most recently less than a month ago. It's like comparing a Best Western to a Westin hotel. Both get the job done but one is definately much nicer( and more expensive). Key Lime could be a good day trip but GWL makes a nice weekend/mini vacation experience.

I didn't see your original post, but based on the first response it seems you may have changed the name you are asking about. I just wanted to clarify Great Wolf Lodge is in the Wis Dells, but there is Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort at Starved Rock. Is that the one you were originally asking about? Not that I have been to any of these places, so I can't help you out there, just wanted to make sure you were getting info about the right place.
Hope you have a great getaway, wherever it may be.

There is absolutely no comparison. Great Wolf is 1000 times better -- yes, worth the extra drive. We love GWL. My kids are 9, 8, and 4. We have been to GWL two or 3 times, the rooms are fun, you can get a "condo" room with a separate bedroom for the kids w/ bunk beds and stuff, they have "bedtime stories" in the main lobby at night under the big wolf clock, the water park is only for hotel guests, good for all ages. Depending on your kids' ages you may also be interested in the Magic Quest which is immediately adjacent (there is a Magic Quest inside the Yorktown mall too). The Magic Quest replaced something called Wiley woods which my kids loved (and I loved because WW was free, but MQ is not -- you need to buy a magic wand and playtime.) Keylime cove is just a big dissapointment. I think it would be fine for about 3 hours. My kids were really like "is this it? All of it?" We went about a year and a half ago and my oldest, then 8, was pretty much too old for Key lime cove. It is small, seems tired, and the hotel rooms were lame. We were glad we were only staying for one night and couldn't get home fast enough! Plus, GWL is in the Dells, so you can get out, walk along main street, take a Duck tour, see Tommy Bahama, or just stay at GWL the whole time, whereas at KLC you have to stay because there's no where else to go. Good luck!!

size. key lime cove is considerably smaller. also great wolf has a whole outdoor area that key lime doesnt have. if you have older kids go with great wolf. if you have young kids and dont want to go on a far drive to get away go with key lime
