Curious, as I sit here preparing tax returns tonight, who hasn't even started their taxes yet? Other than waiting for a K-1 to arrive, what is holidng you up other than disdane for the process?

April 15th is coming fast!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh I wish I were working on my own! But I'm not. I have about 200 returns to get done before the15th for other people - we were caught up and suddenly got a huge influx this week. I was like "where are all these coming from!" Mine will likely not get done until Oct 15th, once again. Still getting 1099's (ameneded) and frankly don't want to wade through my mess.

I haven't because I am not desperate for money, have better things to do.....

Seriously takes about 30 minutes...why does everyone make such a big deal out of taxes?

You are ahead of us since you started yours tonight. I have no excuses, not even 1....especially since all of the paperwork is in a file ready to be done. Most years we did our own, then for the last 4 years we went to H & R Block..paid an outragous amout for them to process it online, when we could have done it ourselves. So..who knows what we'll do, try it ourselves or breakdown & go H&R Block again. But you are right..April 15th is almost here so we better do something quick! I guess the delay is just total disdane for the whole thing!!

Glad to hear that we aren't the only ones in slow mode :)

This year my husband is doing them tomorrow... which is 3 weeks earlier than usual!

(typically running the extension form to the post office the night they are due!)

AND, we will be filing them in full, instead of requesting an extension.

Yay! on top of things for the first time in 13 years of marriage!! =-)

We haven't. Last week we received another 1099-MISC form. I'm afraid of taking our tax info to our accountant, having him finish, and then getting another form in the mail and having to do an amended return. Plus, we'll be paying in this year. We're in no rush to do that.

Please be careful if you go to H&R - have heard some not so good stories on them, esp with I think it was the State of Missouri and they have a form wrong ...

If you're only going to them to plug in the numbers online - try it yourself! Several sites out there to do that and save ya some $$.

Our CPA has our personal and our company files by the 2nd week of Feb.

Even when hubby did the personal before they got complex, they were done by Feb 15.

We're OCD about that... We don't want a refund and we don't want to pay so it's a game to see how well we planned! If we get a refund it goes toward the next year.

Good luck... I know it's not a fun thing, especially when they get complicated.

Me!

I have complicated taxes this year (divorce finalized Jan 1st).

And I can't afford an accountant.

I'm trying to save up enough. And filing for an extension.

*Runs and hides* I can't answer this b/c we're done. But stay strong, you won't have to do them for another 12 months. Lol. They're dreadfully tedious. Sorry! :)

Not us yet - once again our CPA will be filing the extension for us. We just don't seem to get around to getting everything to her until it's almost Apr 15, and I'd rather have her file the extension than be stressed about getting it done quicker than she needed to.

I was just so busy at busy at work this year I never scheduled the appt with my guy. By the time I did, April 8 was the best I could get. I've never waited this long and I had no reason other than laziness! Every year I say I'll just do it myself, but then I go back to my tax guy.

I finally got them done last week. Mine are horrendous and get worse every year because of some new situation. And every year I say I'm taking them to H&R Block or someone and yet, I still muddle thru! Then my husband will glance at them, sign them and say they look good. Yeah, thanks!!

As for Jo W - you're lucky!! Yours must not have anything tricky in them! Want to do mine next year???

Good luck everyone!!

Put ours together for the accountant a few weeks ago... maybe almost 3 weeks ago? Got the call and signed them yesterday. Should have our refund in a week or two. Just in time for husband's first furlough day due to sequestration.
