JFF: What's the Strangest Habit You Developed Since Having Kids?

I'll break the ice. Since having DD, I never eat meals though even before baby, I ate several small meals.

Now I "graze" but at least I graze on healthy things: veggies and fruits. But most of my "grazing" is done standing up. So that's my weird habit. Then there's those sugar free sucking candies. So, what's your strangest habit since motherhood?

What can I do next?

Multi-tasking has ramped up quite a bit.

Also...I remember the day when cleaning the bathroom once a week was adequate. Nowadays? Not so adequate. More like constant bathroom cleaning: the toothpaste in the sink, the wet counter, the pee splashes......

My strangest habit - Filling my purse and car with 'just in case" stuff. I used to carry enough purse for wallet, keys, lipstick, and phone.

Now, I'm a swiss army wife

I carry a 'Mommy Purse" with a capital P. Tissue, babywipes, banaids, childrens benadryl, childrens tylenol, mommy advil, chapstick, pens, crayons, matchbox cars, glitter nail polish, a fruit roll up, chuckee cheese coupons, etc etc etc. Trunk of car now has a blanket, light jackets, heavy sweaters, lawn chairs for soccer games, sporting equipment, extra shoes, sand pail and shovel, beach inflatables, leftover sparklers, beach towels, novels and kiddie books in case of traffic or long wait at drs office, etc etc etc

I think the random absentmindedness. I do stupid things like one time I completely forgot to plug the meter (got a ticket). One time I sprayed sunblock in my hair instead of hair spray. (need to pay attention) Walking in a room and forgetting why you were there. Finding odd things that you put in the fridge instead of the cabinet.

I just think my brain gets so overloaded that I forget the silliest little things! I'd definitely call myself a space case!

That is so weird...because that is how life is done here for me as well.

I eat while I cook. That way I am one plate less having to clean. My kids sit at the bar in front of where I cook so There is no table to be set.

I also have to have at least an hour to myself in the morning. So I get up REALLY early...Which seems silly...But I can not stay up late anymore...And it is so calm and quiet...and my nerves are still attached to the right places.

Trying to relax at the end of the day is impossible..so I love my mornings:)

My "habit" of climbing the stairs to the 2nd floor, forgetting why I went up there only to remember the moment my feet touch the 1st floor again has increased 10 fold. :(

I think I would have to say that I can manage to turn any task into a game if I use my imagination - I sing and dance like Im 'special' just to keep a smile on my daughters face and in the process things get done around here. I think without kids I would be sent to the crazy house for doing some of the things I do LOL

If it can be called a habit- its my paranoia.

I check to make sure the windows are locked, doors are locked, if the kids are breathing, if the coffee maker is unpluged... Not OCD or anything, but I am much more paranoid that something is going to happen then before so I check everything.

The other night my husband went to take the trash out and when I head the door open I rushed to make sure it was really him coming in and not some random stranger.

I was never this paranoid before!

Never sitting still. I used to be able to relax and enjoy myself. Now, forget it. I am always thinking of what I need to get done, or when I am done, thinking of what I forgot to do. Their is always something to do. I also talk alot faster. Part of that is from moving from Florida to RI. They all talk faster up here, but I think more often it is me trying to process and get things moving along!

not so strange, but true...i do not drive at night anymore. and because i've gone so long w/o driving at night it kinda freaks me out & i used to make fun of people (to myself) about that! my son's bedtime's around 8:30p and i can't leave the house after then (parenting alone) so i'm never out at night. on the rare occasion we're out at night, like for the circus or concert in the park, i am SO freakin' tense & worried about hitting the median, drunk drivers (never even used to phase me!) or just overall driving w/my sweet boy w/me. i love to drive, don't know where this came from! protective mama bear i guess. :)

This may not be a strange habit but since my son was born 2.5 years ago, I get up every morning at 5:30 just so I can have 'me' time. I use this time to sip coffee, read emails and make jewelry. I look foward to it every day!

I think Rae A. is me with another name! I have a hard time just sitting down (there really are a million thing I Must.Get.Done.Now)! I have also developed almost a stutter with my speech! Ugh, I used to be able to carry on a nice, educated, inclusive conversation... these days I can hardly remember what I was just talking about. Sometimes I mix up really simple words... It's very frustrating! My husband just looks at me like I'm nuts, but at least my girl can understand what I'm trying to say!

I've turned into a neurotic nutjob that feels like everything is coming at me at once. I don't know what to get to first. I am overwhelmed easily and freak out more. I don't see how my mom did it with 4 kids. I don't ever feel like I can relax. I feel guilty if I sit down and put my feet up cause there is always so much to do. I can't come home from work and relax. If I do, my house will slowly turn into an episode of Hoarders. Once I laid down and actually rested my eyes on the couch. Wasn't sleeping just resting. My two year old came up to me and physically opened my eyes lol. "Wake up mommy!"

When we get home from daycare/school they immediately want a snack. If it's not in front of them pronto they get upset. My 6 year old is patient. So I should say my two year old is the one getting upset. So sometimes I take her upstairs and put her in her crib so I can prepare her snack without being screamed at.

When they go to sleep I look around my house and have tons of things I need to get to and feel overwhelmed cause at that point I am so tired. Then the anxiety sets in. So I dont know if it's a weird habit, but more of a personality change and anxiety and feeling scatterbrained not knowing what to get to next. Have trouble managing my time.
