JFF: Good Days

I'm expecting my daughter in a little over two months. The last seven have been wonderful, trying, emotional, frustrating, blissful, as most pregnancies tend to be. I've felt her moving more strongly in the past few weeks. To me, that is something to really be thankful for, remembering it going from that feeling of the "little squirmies" to full on kicked in the bladder, pee yourself immediately, kung fu baby. Everyday when I feel her move (even when it makes me pee my pants) I take a little time out to say thank you to the higher powers or mother nature or whoever for giving me the ability and opportunity to feel this wonderful blessing. What do you ladies do to just say "thanks" or "good looking out" to the man upstairs or the universal energies or whatever you believe in, and what makes you feel so grateful?

What can I do next?

my little family and i were gathered for breakfast yesterday morning, all at the same table, everyone getting along, and i had one of those 'moments'. it had been a few days of blissful tranquility. no arguments, no disagreements. no tantrums! i told my family how blessed and thankful i felt to have us together, and how much i loved them. my son (4 1/2) promptly answered, "yeah but what about dinner?" (if you knew my son this is hilarious- to say he is ruled by his stomach is an understatement. the fact that we were sitting down to breakfast and he was concerned about dinner was just too much!) we're on our way to church now and i will say another little prayer of thanks. that truly is what it's all about. (family, not dinner :))

I am expecting my 11th baby in November and I give thanks to the Lord by showing love to others around me, particularly to my other kids. When they are driving me crazy, I imagine how stubborn we must appear to God, yet He remains ever patient and loving toward us, so I try to follow His example and just love my kids a little more when they are being difficult.

I try to put good energy into the world. I let people ahead of me in line, I tell the stressed out cashier a funny story or commiserate with her about the mean customer she just dealt with. I STOP and simply pay attention and fully put myself in the moment sometimes and smell the flowers, the grass, my daughter's hair. I put my face to the sun and let the rays warm me and envelope me. Sometimes I just look at something beautiful say "Thank you Mother Nature for giving me this opportunity and letting me be here." It truly makes me feel so fortunate to be alive.

What makes me feel grateful? SO MUCH!!! My mom died when I was 9 and she was only 44. I am beyond grateful for so much. I know my time here may be very short so I need to pay attention and enjoy it all now. I have to live for my mom. When I see people being kind to one another, old people holding hands, kids playing on a playground, my whole family all in the same place at the same time, the sun shining, the clouds raining, a beautiful moon, the smell of something great (the ocean, cookies baking, fresh laundry), my husband looking at me with love the same way he did the first day I met him, I could go on for days but these are just some of the things that make me say THANK YOU to Mother Nature.

Great post! Congratulations on your little one :)

Im not having one of those good days. Im in my first trimester and have been feeling great until now. Tonight my whole abdomen feels like a big bruise and its hard for me to breathe. Im not even showing yet. I skipped my workout for the first time since Christmas. Ugh

Hopefully since i rested i can have a good day tomorrow.

Isnt it funny how the best thing in life is first accomplished by the most trying times in life? Sometimes i feel sorry for men because they will never know the magic and empowerment of growing and having a child.

I feel like I'm someone who is blessed. I don't know why I'm so fortunate, I just feel like I have a wonderful life. Because of this, I feel...I was going to say responsibility, but its not at all burdensome...to be a good person, to give, to smile, to lift others up. I feel so connected to other people that by giving, I'm saying thanks.
