I wasn't brought up in a fun house, but my daughter came up with a fun idea today. we were having some friends over and I asked her what we should plan for a snack. She came up with apples with worms in them. I then got the idea we could use caramel to keep the worms (gummy) in the apples. The kids had fun making them, and their friends had fun eating apples in mud.

I have a friend whose dad ran a ski resort. One year he used a snow machine to make a bunch of snow, and covered the hill behind the room she shared with her sister. Then he came in and told them it snowed, and to dress warmly for the day. When they looked out the window, they saw snow and believed him. When they went to leave the house, it was 80' and sunny. Hee hee.

The worst one I was a victim of was in high school, when my dad set all the clocks forward to 1:00. Then he came into our room acting all angry, saying that the school called because none of us went. We thought he was pranking us, and he turned on the TV where the news showed 1:00. We all start freaking out and getting ready, when he started laughing. He had recorded the news from the day before. Lol. Then he took us out for breakfast before school, which was really rare as he was usually gone to work by the time we got up for school. :)

One of my most memorable was absolutely horrid! My then boyfriend got one of his ex-girlfriends to call my boss's office and ask to speak to me. My boss came and got me and sat back down at her desk while I answered the phone. She was none to happy that the call was on her private line. The ex proceeded to pretend she was so-and-so from the Health Dept., and did I know the boyfriend? I am trying to stay calm in front of the boss and say yes I know him. She then tells me that he has tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease and I need to come in and be tested. I am turning white, my boss gets me a chair, I sit down. I don't remember what else she said, I was so freaked out. Then she starts laughing and says "April Fool's", and hands the phone to my boyfriend who is laughing also. I hung up and started crying. I told my boss. She was very sympathetic. Needless to say, that was one relationship that didn't work out!

Last year (or maybe 2 years ago - I can't remember for sure) a friend of mine was pregnant so I had her take a pregnancy test for me. I left it out on the bathroom counter for my husband to find :) We have 3 and really didn't want any more...he was a little shocked and upset until he realized it was April 1st and said "please tell me this is an April fool's joke".

One year on April 1, when he was on college, my hubby and his friends took all the free newspapers from several locations around campus, waited a year, woke early, and swapped the current April 1 paper with last year's.
Kind-of wish I'd known him back then.

A couple of years ago, my friend told her husband she was late, and watched him turn white...then finally told him April Fool's.

My husband got me good two years in a row. The first time he came home from work and started yelling "What the hell happened to the car? There's a huge dent in the rear bumper!" Of course, I realized it was April Fool's when I was standing at the back of the car looking for a huge dent, and he was laughing at me from the front porch. The second year, I had plans to go out with some mom friends of mine. He called 5 minutes before he was supposed to be home to say he he'd totally forgotten I had plans, and hadn't even left the office yet. I was so mad that I hung up on him. 2 minutes later, the doorbell rang and it was him.

This year I'm on guard. I've never been able to get him!

We don't do pranks on each other but my husband and his roommates in college use to do some pretty complicated pranks (all the time - not just on April 1st).

Back when they had the big wide greenbar computer paper one of the guys taped it up so it covered a bedroom door when it was closed - then he filled the space in between the paper and the door with packing peanuts.
When the room mate woke up and opened his bedroom room he was hit by a minor avalanche of peanuts.

Another time one of them switched all the CDs with the covers of other CDs - for awhile no one knew what they were getting when they picked one out.

Another guy put his buddy's car up on blocks and deflated the tires slightly.
The guy was annoyed when he got into his car, turned it on, put it in gear and went nowhere.

My brother is doing one as we speak. He posted a craigslist ad for a BOB stroller and listed his buddy's number as the contact. Hahaha! A bunch of Mom's will be bugging this 24-yr old for weeks!

And giant marshmallows were put out on the local golf course to confuse the golfers. Too funny!
