It's Cousin Camp Time Again

Hey Mama's, last year you helped so much with great ideas for cousin camp, so I thought I'd ask again. This years theme is western/cowboy. Any ideas you have on food, games, crafts, activities, field trips, etc., is greatly appreciated. We need a lot of things to keep us busy (less chance of boredom). There are 4 campers this year ranging in age from 4-7. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Sorry, I don't have any ideas since I'm not creative like that, but I just wanted to say... what a great idea! What a blessing it must be for the cousins to be able to spend time together like that and to have such fun and such a fun person running it! Fantastic! =)

They have a great selection of novelties, games and toys for parties, classrooms, summer camps, art classes etc. Just click on crafts button.

I've linked you to their Western themed items, but you really should check out the entire site. They have great outdoor games for obstacle courses and picnics too (click on toys and novelties button). The supplies for crafts and art project are endless!

Yes, Cowboy Beans.........this can me any mixture you want, take pork and beans or baked beans, add hamburger and just about anything else you want.....ham, onions, etc......put it all in a big pot and eat it up!!!! Kids love it and you can give them chips to go with it......

Games, make you some games with folders........make them to represent cowboys....and cowgirls.........you can get themed prizes......and maybe teach them some history in the process, like give them multiple choice.....on what the right answer would be......here is how to make the games, you might make 4 of them, one for each child with a set of cards to take home with them.
Manila folder board game.

Get a file folder, open it up, and draw circles or squares or triangles, whatever you want and make a game board. Be sure to leave room for pictures either drawn or cut out. Then either buy clear contact paper or take it and get it laminated. Then go to the dollar store and buy some cheap "game pieces", they can be erasers, or whatever they like.......next cut some paper and make playing cards. These can go from ABC's, pictures or words, to letters and sounds, whatever you want. You can laminate them too if you want........Get some dice......now you are ready to go.......you can use the game for quite a while, and you can just changed the cards as they progress to new things.....When the board is in bad shape, make a new one......this can go on for years......and it's cheap, simple to make and they have fun playing a game, not realizing that they are learning as they go.

As for field trips, we have an Eteljorg museum in Indy, do you have one like that? It's dedicated to the appreciation and understanding of American Indian and western art and the many cultures of North America. Look and see if you have one near you.

Crafts, wow, you can make Indian head dresses with feathers and construction paper........if you are really good, make a town with buildings and horses and such.
Be sure to include Annie Oakley and others to hold up the women of the times....

Have fun and take care.....and yes, it's an awesome idea.....

I hope this helps, remember, stickers are great too for the board, cards and as rewards for a great job done!

BBQ'd anything, Buckaroo baked beans, cupcakes with cowboy decorations...

Games: "pony" races with brooms/mops, roping a "steer" (chair)...
