Hi Mommies,

Just found out that we are going to need to be in Newport Beach for 2 days in few weeks. We live over an hour away so we were thinking that maybe instead of driving all the way home at the end of each day for the 2 days we could just stay there and enjoy the city. Unfortunately we are on a budget. I would like to get a place with a pool. Eventhough we will be close to the beach, unfortunately going this is not an option for us this time. Some of the hotels I have researched sound great, but out of our price range. I am looking to pay no more than $120/night preferably less. Does anyone know of a hidden gem? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I don't think you'll find anything in Newport Beach on your budget -- especially if it is before Labor Day. But Costa Mesa and some parts of Irvine are close and a little cheaper -- especially on the weekends. Make sure you read the fine print though. A lot of hotels charge for parking. Good luck!

I would try a vacation rental. Homeaway.com, or VRBO.com (as already mentioned) are good options.

I think Newport Beach proper is going to be out of your budget. I stay in the OC quite a bit for work and even with massive corporate volume discounts I pay much more than that, then add taxes, fees and parking.

Costa Mesa mentioned below might be a good idea.

Have you checked out VRBO.com? That really is the cheapest way to do things. You might be able to find a nice condo that has a pool.
