Inexpensive, Good Salon in MD

I live in the Bethesda area and am looking to get a good hair cut and color. The salons in the area are really expensive and I haven't found one that I love. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good hair stylist that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars? I would be willing to drive a reasonable distance.

It's not in Maryland, but if you can make it to Georgetown, Camille at Bogart is amazing and definitely could charge a lot more than she does - I've referred all of my friends and my MIL to her

I love Cecile and Avie at Le Reve on MacArthur Blvd. in DC. It's just over the line near Sibley Hospital.

Tanya is the owner...lots of free parking...great color and cut. I also go to a salon in Georgetown that will cost me twice as much plus parking! Usually in and out fairly quickly too.

It will tske you about 20 min to get there.

I have been going to Perez Salon & Day Spa in Congresional Plaza (at Halpine & Rockville Pike) since I moved here 3.5yrs ago. Haven't had a bad cut yet & actually got a fabulous one Thursday from Julie Hunter for $60. I only get my hair cut every 4 months or so & therefore feel like it's a good deal. If you need to go every 6 weeks it may be less of a bargain. Web site is www.perezsalonandspa.com

i've always been afraid to go to the hair cuttery but one of my friends (whose hair always looks fabulous) swore by a hairdresser that worked at the hair cuttery in wheaton mall. i've never gotten a bad haircut from Teresa. my friend and i are both indian and have very long hair. i think she's great. i pay $30 for a wash, trim and style. We've both been going to her for over 4 years now.

Teresa is the only caucasian person that works there so she is easy to spot. no appt necessary, you can call ahead to see if she works that day. if you decide to go you can tell her A. recommended her. :-)

good luck!

Danny at Danny's Hair Studio just north of Dupont Circle (1728 Connecticut Ave. NW, DC 20009 202/745-1788) has been doing my hair for 20+ years. He is easy to get to, very affordable and has seen me thru big 80's perms, 3 pregnancies (and my hair looks great in all delivery room pics) maid of honor gigs, covering increasingly gray hair to my current sleek bob. He's great with all types of hair and he has the kindest heart of anyone I know.
