Hi K.,

I'm also a new Mom living in Rockville. I have a 4 month old son. I'd also love to be part of a play group in the area since most of my friends have older kids or no kids. I'm a 30 year old first time mother and I think it would be great to have a group of friends with young kids. Let me know what you think!

Derwood Bible Church(in Rockville) has a mom's group that meets during the school year called MOPS(Mother's of Preschoolers). It has been a good group for me to meet other moms and learn from them. I think the number is ###-###-####.

Hi and welcome to the DC area!

Please feel free to check out DCmom.com which has some ideas on things to do with our wonderful little girl and to help you get out and about to know the area.

There are some great playgroups on MeetUp which have moms of infant groups that may work out nicely for you!

Welcome K.!

Rockville has three or four Moms Clubs operating, depending on where in Rockville you live. Although my children are now in school, I greatly enjoyed the activities and was very active, when they were younger!

I was a member of Norbeck Moms and found them to have a good number of programs in addition to very nice people with whom I had a great deal in common with.

Good luck and see you around town. :)

Hi Carla,

Welcome! I'm relatively new to the area and pregnant with my first child (due in about 4 weeks). I joined my local MOMs Club and met lots of moms and kids. It's a group that supports stay at home moms and moms who work part time. There are outtings and playdates and playgroups throughout the week and some events just for moms. I found it to be a great way to meet other moms. The local clubs are organized by where you live. I'm in south Rockville and the website for our group is www.momsrockvillesouth.org. You can also check out the main website for MOMs Club International at www.momsclub.org. There's an email link on their "find a chapter near you" page. You can email them to see which chapter you could join based on where you live. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Hi K.,

If you live in Rockville 20853 (or for those in Silver Spring 20906), check out the MOMS Club of Norbeck. We meet at the Aspen Hill Library on the 2nd Thursday of each month (usually with a parenting-related speaker that's pretty interesting), & there are lots of playgroups, moms' nights out, & several other fun activities for you & your little one. Even though your daughter is too young to do much socializing, it's a great resource for you. If you'd like more information, just let me know, or just stop by one of our meetings & check it out for yourself!

Welcome to DC! :-)

I just started with these groups from Meetups.com:
Super Fun & Hip Mommies
Montgomery County Playgroup for Infants and Toddlers

Also, when my baby was 4 months I started going to My Gym once a week.

I have a 5 month old and am new to the Potomac area and it is hard to get out and reconnect with the world. I would be happy to meet up with you for a stroll around the mall as I am still trying to find mommies to hang out with as well.

I will be starting a new moms group called Washington DC Mommies that will be premiering in a few weeks. Meanwhile, feel free to check out FrederickMommies.com that also meets in Rockville as well.
