I got the shot late with one of my pregnancies. All 3 of my kids were Rh positive so I got the shot after each pregnancy. The only concern I ever had was that it hurt my tush!!! It will be fine, if you don't get it if the baby is positive then you run the risk of a miscarriage in future pregnancy. Good luck and enjoy your new baby.

You will only get the shot postpartum if your baby is Rh positive. If your baby is Rh negative like you, you do not get the shot. There are very little risks to having it if you need it.

Have a safe & speedy birth & a healthy baby!

I am rh- as well and have gotten shots throughout my pregnancies for things like bleeding etc. I think it would be ok and a lot safer to get it instead of the antibodies building up and putting yourself and future pregnancies at rusk but TALK TO YOUR DR before all else!

I am 0 negative, so I also need the shot. I've had two boys. My first son was born with O positive blood, so I had Rhogam at 28 weeks and again at his birth (which was at 31 weeks gestation because he was early). My second son, I had the shot at 28 weeks, and I didn't need it upon delivery because he has O negative blood.

I hope this helps. I don't think you can overdose. My first son's shots were only 3 weeks apart, and there were no side effects.

I think its totally fine that you got the shot a little later but if the baby is RH positive then you really need to get the shot when he is born. If not, you could endanger future pregnancies. I think you should talk to the doctor about what the shot actually is, its not a drug so you can't "overdose". I am RH negative, my husband is positive, our son was positive so I got the shot.
