I Hope This Goes Here!

My son has been teething for quite some time. He has 2 teeth that showed up shortly after he turned 5 months and I didn't notice it before but he has been chewing on the wood part of his crib. We have teethers on the long sides of the crib but he chews on the short sides. There is a good few inches of light wood from where he chewed off. Is there anything around I can use to keep him from chewing on it or soething I could get to protect the wood so he doesn't eat wood anymore. This side is his favorite to chew on. Please, any ideas? Do they make teethers for the short sides?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I took an old sheet and cut it up to fit the sides and he hasn't chewed up any wood. I screwed it in and tied it down. It's working!! Thanks!!! ---{---{@

My son did this with his crib. I took a bumper pad I no longer used and cut it up to fit the end and I secured it to the short sides so when he would chew he chewed the bumper pad instead. It worked. He didn't chew so much anymore.

I don't have any advice except that my daughter did the exact same thing as your son. I tried putting masking tape there, but it either got chewed off or fell off within a day. I just tried to get her to not chew on it when I saw her do it.

I have this same problem. The company told me to buy teething rails, but again that doesn't help with the end pieces. What type of crib to you have? I have the Simplicity Nursery in a box. I find that the wood doesn't seem to have enough coating on it so it is really easy for my son to just chew right through it. He has even been getting pieces of the wood in his mouth.

We have a sleigh type crib so the regular hard-square plastic teether guard didn't fit. We bought this "stick on" soft teether guard stuff...it feels kind of like silicone...they say it's "medical grade"/non-toxic.
It's called Gummi Crib Rail
Goto www.onestepahead.com or if you are near milwaukee, you can get it locally at USA Baby in Brookfield.
They're not too expensive and you can cut it to fit. There's one piece per box, approx the long length of the crib.

i feel for ya woman!! my 15 month old had 12 teeth already and every one had been a real.... journey. i gave her wash cloths, some wet and with "little teethers" numbing agent and some with just some luke warm water-- because cold hurt her too much. they also make organic teething buscuits that rock!! as for your crib... i don't know!! wrap it with something unapealing?? good luck!!
