I Have Some Questions About Dupage Museum for Kids in Naperville.

I have never been there and was wondering if anyone can tell me if it will be worth going. I have a 13 month old and my friend has a 9 month old and we would like to check it out but not sure if they are too little to go.

How much is it? Is it worth it? I also have a fracture on my foot and am limping and is the place big where I will be doing alot of walking? When i go out i put my son in the stroller , if we do go can i take him in the stroller to make it easier for me since i'm walking all wobbly?
Thanks for the information.

What can I do next?

I have been there so many times i love it. yes you can bring a stroller. If you are going with your friend i would stick to the young exploer areas. You have to pay 7.50 for everyone but babies under one are free. I love it there and so does my son.

I would wait until they're about 14-18 months old. It's a place that you want them to be able to explore, not be in a stroller. They can very quickly get away from you and you're not going to want to chase them while limping.

There are three "young explorers" areas for kids under 2, which I think you and your friend would enjoy. It's a nice change of scenery for kids and for moms! When my first daughter was about 18 months old we joined the museum, and with my second daughter I was having fun playing with all of the different things from a few months on. But she was incredibly mobile. The nice thing about the young explorers area is you can just stay in there, two of the three are mostly contained, so you wouldn't have to worry about your foot. And there are plenty of strollers around.

I took my 16 month old and he had a blast. He is a really strong walker, though, and interested in everything. It's not really a place for kids to experience from a stroller, so I would wait until he's older and your foot is healed. It does cost $7.50 per person, (everyone has to pay), but if you can spend a couple of hours there, I think it will be worth it.

I've only been there once, so I'm sure other Moms will have even better insights. But from my experience, the museum is suitable for children who are, at minimum, strong walkers. It's completely hands-on for the kids, so a child in a stroller would not have much fun at all. Also, I wouldn't take a crawler -- there are kids running around everywhere, from room to room, and it doesn't seem like the right place for crawlers.

That being said, my daughter was 15 months old (and I took along her newborn brother in the stroller/carrier). She spent most of the time in the two areas designated for younger children (2 yrs old or something like that?) Some of the other rooms were intimidating for her (the music room was pretty wild the day we went), but she loved playing in the water exhibit and with the giant "light bright" exhibit.

As for moving around, I was recovering from my c-section and wasn't moving at full-pace yet. My husband was with and did all the running after my daughter. There is no way I could have managed chasing her around on my own. It's not a huge place, but the kids are free to move from room to room. So, depending upon how active your child is, you may find yourself needing to chase him/her down.

We definitely had a good time and I'm looking forward to the time I can go back with both kids a little bit older.
