I HATE Rude People! Grrr

Let me start off with I feel like crapy today, so I am sure that that made things worse.

I walked into Subway for lunch and right as I walk in the door there is a woman on her cell phone. Well when I tried to go around her she moved in my way, so I went the other way and so did she. SERIOUSLY? She would not let me around her to order my food, in which there was nobody in line and they were waiting to wait on us. She finally got off the phone and did her order.

Is it wrong that I just wanted to yell "Get off your phone or Get out of my way!"?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I never thought about ordering over her sholder. Great idea! I did however what to kick the back of her knee so she would fall like we used to do in grade school. Yep I said it I wanted to stoop back to grade school. I was just so mad!

Mama H. I would have flushed again and then prolly again.

Thanks guys. I feel better knowing that my emotions were justified. :)

I went into a bathroom stall at my office a few years back and in the stall next to me a lady was talking on her cell phone. Well I flushed the toilet when I finished and she yelled "that is so rude!" at me. People really can be so self absorbed.......

I would have said, quite loudly, "Excuse me", and if she didn't respond, I would have gone to the other end of the counter and started my order from there. If she said anything, I would have ignored her. Some people just don't get it.

I would have looked her dead in the eye (while on the phone) and announced very loudly and sweetly "Oh, I did not mean to be RUDE...I had no idea you were calling in your ORDER. Excuse me as I need to give them mine." Smile and sashay past. It is all in the delivery.

That happened to me recently at a bakery. A woman on a cell (after completing her call) barked loudly at the staff for serving me first. Made a stink about how she was going to be late getting back to work, etc.. I rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders and gave a reassuring wink to the woman behind the counter.

If you are on the phone, you should not expect to be served. I probably wouldn't ever be as direct to say what you were thinking, but I really don't like confrontation and I am usually trying to diffuse situations. I always feel badly for servers, etc... in these situations. "Guests" are so rude. :(

Rude people suck. But letting them ruin your day sucks more. You kept your composure, she's the idiot with no manners. Roll your eyes at her and go about your day. And I hear you about having a crappy day today - I am, too. Glass of wine awaits me tonight...

I admire your restraint. I would have yelled at her and just yelled my order over the top of her head.

I don't get people like her. If I'm not ready to order and someone else comes in, I just motion them in front of me. No point in making them wait while I finish up my business.

That makes me angry just to hear! I don't know what I would have done--probably forced my way around her somehow. How rude! Imagine what kind of driver she is. Stay away from her on the highway!

Edited: My hubby and I once stayed at hotel where, when we went to the front desk to check in, they had a sign that said something to the effect of "If you expect to be helped, hang up the cell phone." I can't remember the exact words. But I wish more businesses had that kind of attitude. People are stupid with their cell phones. Oh, don't get me on a rant now!

Sorry that happened to you!

She is rude but dont let her ruin your day. Go forth and have a wonderful day. You are wonderful at so many things you do for your family focus on the good.

I also get annoyed of other moms that try to take advantage of me. I am finally become more assertive but being assertive is not natural for me. However I have to stick up for myself. Recently a mom called me and asked if her other child could come to my child birthday party. Her other child is attending. Although the mom seems pleasant. I think its highly pushy. I barely know her. I have my 4 children my two nephews plus all the kids attending the party. The kids are in grade school so the majority will not be hanging out for the party. I calmly told her no. Which was hard for me.
I am sending you a hug.

Well, I am trying for the past years to control my spicy Latina soul, lol. So I probably would just have stay there and use her as a lesson to my kids on what not to do (ups, did you hear that, sorry it wasn't meant for you) but if she got me on one of those days, I probably would have say:
"Excuse, I need to order, I actually have something more important to do other then just stand up in a lalaland in a Subway"
Or
Excuse me, why don't you get an order of "Respect for others" with that sandwich, I hear is very good for you and it doesn't get you fat, you may want to try", ok I am not that bad for some people make me wish I was, lol.

That is rude!! No, it's not wrong that you wanted to yell that - you should have. Or you could just have yelled your order to the worker while "Ms. Important" was on her phone call. ;)

Sorry your day has been crappy - hope all gets better soon! :)

Yeah... I usually am pretty non-confrontational... but if I didn't have my DD with me (don't want to set a bad example...) I probably would have said (loudly) 'SERIOUSLY? If you're not gonna order NOW then I AM!' How rude.

Yes its wrong. The Safeway employee should have recognized what was going on and said, "Whose Next"? If the person on the phone continued her conversation, the Safeway employee should have waited on you first.

Remember feeling hate isn't healthy. Anger is a normal emotion, but save it for something a little more serious then ordering a sandwich.

She was wrong, she was rude, don't let folks like that drag you down to their level. I hope day has improved.

Blessings....

OMG! She really did that! I am so mad at her too now. How rude!
I think I would have said 'Excuse M.' a little loudly and gone ahead to order my food. Just because she reaches there first doesn't mean everyone else has to wait behind her until she finishes her oh-so important phone call. Jeez!

I would have just went to the middle of the counter and started ordering. I go around people all the time, lol some don't even notice (especially when they are on the phone).
Someone yelled at me once for the same thing. She got red faced and everything, totally laying into me. When I told her I was on the phone to the hospital because my dad is in the ICU, and I am newly pregnant and need to eat before I throw up. The look on her face of pure embarassment was so worth getting yelled at in the first place. =)

Some people are just plain rude. I totally understand. The other day I was in dunkin donuts to place an order so my teenager could take donuts to school for her birthday. Before me there was a large couple placing an order. There are two registers, they completed their order, paid and still stood there blocking. The other cashier called me over to order, but I couldn't fit in to get near the register, plus I'm holding my 2yr old. The cashier tells them to please move and they ignore him, and he persists to tell them again to move and the woman looks at him, shakes her head and then proceeds to tell her husband, "do you think 2 dozen is enough?" I tell her, "excuse me please." She ignores me.

At that point, I'm like this is rude. The cashier apologizes to me and I say in a loud voice, "well let me see if I can fit in here to place my order, gosh I wish I had enough room to fit in so I could order some donuts before they are all gone!" The woman looks at me then moves. I didn't let it ruin my day, plus I got some free donuts : )

It's ashame that some people are so rude. You try to be nice but they refuse to be courteous. I'm the kind of person that lets people go in front of me at the grocery store if they have more items than me. If your finish ordering or talking on a phone or just are plain indecisive; people need to learn to be kind and let others go.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Sometimes we let it go, but there are times when you have to say something. I hope you get to feeling better.

i would have screamed my order over her shoulder. and if she said anything...I would look at her and be like your holding up these ladies/orgentlemens business youre not ordering so go back to your call. If my kids were there i would let them be whiny and loud and annoying. I know all of this is childish but, i have been behind those people in the drive through line before. they will not pull forward to order until they are done with their call.
