I Hate!!!!!

I had a boyfriend years ago that refered to his ex as THE EX. I said, "She has a name and it's Sicklefritz." So every time he said THE EX I corrected him, he finally started saying Snicklefritz, or whatever her name was, I can't remember, but I too can't stand when people do that and I do correct them.

Nor do I allow people to say "the hubby" or "the wife". I will stop converstaions and ask what the respective person's name is and then go ahead and correct them.

Now on here I find myself typing my hubby's or kiddos' names then retyping something more ambiguous. My name and city is enough info on the web.

It really irritates me.

I think I agree with Cupcake. Married or not, it seems that your boss doesn't hold that marriage in very high regard. Maybe she thinks the women are/were out to "get something" from her son.... ? Were the parents married before the grandchild was conceived?

She must not like them and/or she is annoyed that her son wasn't married to them. ?

UPDATE after the SWH: Wow.Then she just must not like them. :(

Is it cultural? No offense, but I know a lot of families in different ethnic groups that refer to each other as baby mama, even call the little girls mama and it isn't degrading to them at all.

She thinks it's funny and it really isn't to me or you.....

That is just it, she is classless. She is probably one of those crazy mothers that want to keep her child to herself. I know that's kinda weird but I have seen someone like that.

It seems like some people think it's cute. I have a relative who refers to her daughter that way, and I'm sure she doesn't mean it to be derogatory.

I, for one, think there is a somewhat negative connotation to it but that's just me.

It's sort of become part of modern parlance.
