Take a ferry to one of the Islands and make a romantic getaway there. Take a walk through a historic neighborhood noting the various landmarks.
Have dinner and a movie. My husband and I had a monthly date at the Symphony as it was what we both enjoyed.

Movie, Dinner?

Go to the library together?

My hubby and I are going to Galena, IL ( a town that lives off its past, lots of historical homes and buildings, and touristy neat little boutiques) for a weekend together a week, from today, we will shop, eat, and go to all the little historical sites and take the tours.....is there anything like that around your area?

Just go sleep overnight in a hotel with a pool, with no kids, sleep in, have some fun without worrying about being interrupted, go actually SWIM in the pool without having to worry about anyone drowning!

Don't get lost on the planning, but do consider how formal you want to get then go from there. My husband and I don't go out much (lack of reliable babysitters) and when we do it's often dinner and movie or sitting somewhere for a drink. During Christmas season we shop with out the kids. It's nice for me when he and I just sit and talk, because if the kids are present we could never have adult conversation. Enjoy!

Besides what has been suggested before me, go to a motel or tourist area and look at all the broshures of things to do in your area.

Rent a cabin on a lake. go swimming, fishing, hiking or just a plain old walk in the woods.

I hope you have a wonderful time. Don't wait so long for the next date.

Good luck to you and yours.

We love to take short road trips to neighboring cities (up to 2 hours away) and have dinner and go somewhere for coffee. It provides a new atmosphere, great people watching, and some wonderful quality/talk time!

What do you enjoy doing?

I always think it's nice to enjoy a meal together. One of our favorite dates is to go to the casino, we play a few slots, walk through a few shops, and enjoy a nice brunch.

take a walk on the beach (I don't know where Lakewood is)
go bowling
go on a picnic
see a play
go to a local festival
concert (lots of concerts in the park during the summer)

Do you know what I would love to do with my hubby? There is a place just up the street here that rents rooms with jacuzzi's in them. I would love to go hang out in one for a couple of hours. Otherwise, there is a comedy club a walk on the riverwalk, a movie, a couple of hours in the bookstore over in the grownup section. bowling, horseback riding, and my favorite place to be with him? The casino. I know . . . but we play craps together, and I love watching him enjoy himself. I love doing things with him where he feels like king of the world. Seeing him light up. Wow, I just realized we haven't been out kid free in over a year. Time to get a sitter.

We don't get "out" as much as we'd like to either but we do have regular "alone" time. Sometimes we know ahead of time, sometimes it just happens because someone offers to take our daughter on an outing or for a sleep-over. Some of our best dates have been staying at home, ordering Chinese food (all the fun exotic stuff served on my best plates) and watching a movie. We've also done a dinner out somewhere neither of us had tried before followed by a walk in a park or along the water. I also like the idea of doing something neither person has done before so you both experience something new. Most of all - remember to TALK to each other - not about the kids, but TALK like you used to when you were dating. I'm always pleasantly surprised to be reminded that after almost 25 years, I still LIKE my husband and enjoy his company. Have fun!
