ok, so I joined but I don't get it. I saw cute cupcakes but no recipe. Are you just supposed to figure it out? or am I missing something?

Don't. If you ever want to be productive again, don't use it!

Its like a bulletin board and you "pin" or repin what you like onto your "bulletin board."
It depends on what people pin... it can just be a picture or blog or item from a store, and you click on the picture and it should link you to the site it came from and then perhaps the recipe.

Just click on things/pictures you see or like, and it should link you to it.

if you click on the thumbnail of the cupcakes it will enlarge and a website link will show in the top right corner. if you click that it will take you to the original blog/webiste what ever and if there is a recipe for the cupcakes that's were it will be, but if they are just trying ot show you how to decorate it there might not be directions and you might just have to try to recreate it the best you can.

I also wanted to say i use it sort of like i would a magazine, just skim through the picts adn if something catches my eye i look closer. I rarely use the search box but i guess you cold.

Did you read the "Pinterest 101" directions :-) ? If you're confused, it should help. Did you click on the picture that leads you to the bigger picture and then click again? That should bring you to the website with the actual recipe. Sometimes there are no instructions and it's just for idea's sake.

You create boards for different categories, like recipes, crafts, home decor, fashion, etc. and then you repin the ideas you like to the corresponding board.

There is also a "pin it" button that you can save to your "favorites" and you can pin anything from any website if you like the idea & want to share it on pinterest.

Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun. At least, for me it is.

its for inspiration. Not everything is a recipe or how too, often its just a visual. Think of it as a designers concept board. You collect ideas.

I scour the internet for so many ideas that Pinterest has actually reduced the amount of time I spend on the internet (search what I want and it's there). On my down time I will peruse pins but only here and there if there was nothing on FB. =D

You use it like cork board of ideas. I used to take screen shots of things I liked on the internet... no more. I like that.

Also, if the person pinned it from a website with a recipe, just touch the picture and it will usually take you to the original website. If it doesn't, then the photo has no website to link to.

If you click on the picture, most likely it will take you to the outside website where the picture came from - and there, you may find the recipe. Pinterest is sort of a way to "bookmark" things you like from places all over the internet, and store the basic ideas in one place. Think of it as an online recipe box - remember how Grandma would keep all her family recipes on index cards in a little recipe box? That's Pinterest, but digital. And instead of just recipes, it's everything in the whole darned world. I have to limit my time on there, or I'd be on there 24/7.
