How to Clean Stuffed Animals

My son received a dog from Build A Bear for his birthday this year and it looks as though its been run through more than a few messes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it?

What can I do next?

my sons puppy from build a bear was designed for kids with allergies/asthma. it is safe to wash. check w/ build a bear to see about your particular toy.

If you can still find it -- get some Bissell spot-upholstery cleaner. Comes in a big can with plastic scrubbing brush built on top. Shake, hold upside down, spray onto fabric or brush, and work around in small circles. Worked especially well on Steiff animals and things you do NOT want to wash or fluff dry. When surface is completely dry, gently vacuum away like you would on an armrest, or small pillow. Make sure there are no loose arms or eyes or ears before you clean and vacuum with the attachment. We have done all of Noah's Ark this way. You can fluff surface with a small, gentle brush.

SUPER SIMPLE AND REALLY WORKS!!!

Just put the stuffed animal in a bag (preferably plastic that you can seal) add baking soda and shake. Depending on how dirty the animal is as to how long you shake but a few min should do. Then remove and dust off, or place in your dryer on fluff and you now have a clean stuffed animal.

I put stuffed animals like that in a pillow case closed up with a rubber band and wash it on either regular or the gentle cycle with other clothes as well. I use cold water and let it air dry.

I would contacting build a bear and ask them how to clean it

According to Build A Bear, the animals are "allergic" to water so I am afraid you may ruin your dog if you throw it in the washer. They have told my son each time to NOT but his animals in or near water. I would think you could spot clean with something. I bought the Build A Bear cleaner just because my son is prone to accidents. I relaize this might have been a ploy on Build a Bear part but the cleaner works great.

I put stuffed animals inside of a pillow case and washed them in the washing machine. Let them air dry or you can put them in the dryer to fluff them a little.
