How to Clean a Cloth Shower Curtain?

I switched from the vinyl shower curtains to a polyester cloth shower curtain thinking I won't have to replace it as often since I can throw the cloth curtain into the wash. However the shower curtain appears to have water mineral stains, mostly at the bottom of the curtain where it gets wet the most, and it doesn't come off in the wash. Is there any cleaning solution that will get the stains out or do I have to buy a new curtain (which I am hoping not to have to do).

What can I do next?

If it is white, which some are, try putting it through the wash with a little bleach in it. If it is a colored one, try oxi clean or something similar when you wash it (clorox has a similar product). I have had great luck with it getting out most stains on colored clothes (didn't get out pasta sauce so far). I also like it because it can be used if someone has bad reactions to bleach as it isn't really a bleach product.

I buy those liners too and get the exact same problem with the hard water and mineral stains at the bottom. I actually don't was them, I replace them with a new one but I buy them because I prefer the way they look to the plastic liner. My only thought for what to use might be Oxy Clean or baking soda in the wash - something to get the mineral deposits off. If that doesn't work, I get mine at TJ Maxx and Marshall's and they are only about $5 or $6 new. That's the only way I can justify buying new ones!! Good luck and let me know if you do find a remedy for washing the stains out!

I use a non-toxic laundry detergent called MelaPower and a non-toxic product called Solumel. Comes out clean everytime. No soaking, no spraying. Both products are made with the best of science and nature, so no harsh chemicals.

Most of them can go right into the washing machine! It should have a label on it to tell you how to clean it.
I put mine in the machine all the time with regular laundry detergent and it comes out fine.

I soak mine in a bucket of bleach water for an hour or so before washing it, but mine is white. You might try Clorox for colors if yours is colored. I've saved my shower curtain numerous times this way. It's better than buying a new one each time.

Have you tried a bleach shower spray before you put it in the wash?

I will spray mine with Shout, or use Shout with gel, and then put them in the washing machine and wash. They have both helped.
Good luck.

You can wash the vinyl ones in the washer on the gentle cycle....just an idea.

I have the same. Just put some bleach in the wash. It works great!
