How Much to Fence a Yard?

Can you ladies give me an estimate how much it might be to fence a yard? We are under contract for a home that is .44 acres and we want to fence the backyard. I know it will depend what type of fence and the actual size, but just curious on a very general estimate... Could care less if you are completely off, but we have NO general idea how much it might cost. Thanks!

We got a quote for $2600-$3000 for our fence from a fencing company. Maybe 180 feet of cedar fencing. That was for back, one side, and a little on each side of the house (one of our neighbors already had a fence in place). We ended up doing it ourselves for about $2000. It took all summer but we love it. Had to buy the materials and rent a post hole digger (do not do it by hand). We used a program at Menards that you plug in all measurements and choose the type of materials you want and it places your order. Good luck!

we used action fence for a 6 foot cedar privacy fence and it was right around $4k but we fenced three sides and one side goes all the way up to the front of the house so we could do a dog run on the one side. Most houses I see the fence is flush with the back of the house which would decrease your costs.

We had a 6 foot wooden shadow fence put in about 5 years ago and it was about $5500.
Thanks,

We just had a fence put up in our new home in July. It was about 200ft of wood fencing 6ft high and is cost us $4000. We went with a company vs like Lowes or Home Depot, becuase we did not want the panel fences, which those do tend to be cheaper I think. I would call some companies and have them go out to the house to give you some estimates. We did that when we had our house under contract because we needed to get a fence up as soon as we moved in.
