The cost of water varies by location and amount used. My bill includes sewer and Iisabout the same in Portland, Oregon if I remember correctly. Just two of us live here and I do very little outside watering.

I live in Texas and my water and sewage are together and my average is $110/month, summer a little higher but we are on restrictions with water so this year hasn't been as bad.
I'd love to see a $85 water bill.

You really need to compare to other people in LA.

Ours is 150 over the summer so 50 a month, the rest of the year it is 60 a quarter. We don't get monthly bills.

$38.51 per month for water and sewer.

We're very careful about how much water we use.

Ours is water and sewer and is never under $100 a month. We are a family of 6, but I was shocked at the price. It was cheaper in AZ than in IA.....which makes me confused since we lived in the desert.

About $140 per quarter for 6 people. (Well, one moved out in June to go to college.) Ten years ago when we bought the house it was about $120/quarter, so it hasn't even gone up too much since then.

That said, we live on Lake Erie, so fresh water is plentiful here.

I am in the Plano TX area (Dallas burb) same as Melanie.

We just got our water bill and it is $225.67 which we were happy to see. The highest this year has been well over $300. In 2012, our highest was $758. My specific district, Allen, charges in increments of usage.

We are in drought and on our water days, we water a lot because we have some huge trees that suck up the water and desperately need it.

My bill averages $100 a month in the winter and off months for watering.

My daughter is in a condo in West Plano and her water bill averages $20 a month. It is just her.. no outside watering, no laundry. She does her laundry here at my house.

$85 a month? Ours fluctuates with the season, but is generally in the neighborhood of $150-300 per quarter, we pay 3 times a year.

I wonder if you're paying for some of the previous owners/renters water?

:)

That's about what ours is, too (we are in the Sacramento water utility area). And we are in heavy conservation mode right now, as I'm sure you are, too.

I just paid $114 today and that is just water. We have a small lot as we lived in a split home community so I do water but we have restrictions to every 3rd day. It does drop down to $78 during the winter and I think that is the minimum that everyone pays.

Our water bill is quarterly - every 3 months. It averages around $150 per quarter, so $50 per month.

We do not have a pool, don't water the lawn, don't wash the car.

We do have a small vegetable garden. The kids played in the sprinkler once this summer. Otherwise our use is normal household stuff.

Added: The water bill is combined with the sewer bill, so the $50/mo is for both.

My total bill stays between $50 and $75 most months - Water, sewer, and garbage pickup are on one bill here.
I don't water my lawn or wash my car. The lawn gets watered and the car washed when it rains. During droughts, the lawn dies and the car stays dirty.
I use water for cooking, showering, flushing, dish-washing, floor-mopping, and laundry.

We're on well water and have a septic system.
We bought a filter system when we bought the new construction house 7 years ago.
We buy salt for the softener (just under $9 a 50 lb bag and a bag lasts us 2 months), bleach for the chlorine tank (just under $3 a gallon) which we use 2-3 cups when we fill the tank every month, we replace the filters in the reverse osmosis filter under the kitchen sink once a year (about $65).
We have 3 people in the house and we haven't needed to have the septic system cleaned out yet (our neighbor has their cleaned out about once every 15 years).
I've always had city water before moving here but I really like our well water system a lot.

I'm in central Texas, and my combined water and trash pick-up is usually about $60 a month.... it is higher in the summer, though, due to water usage... Also, I don't have wastewater... we have a septic tank, so there is no charge for waste water on that bill.

Should be getting my bill today or tomorrow... But all my utilities except gas are combined. This months bill is $627, but online I can't see the breakdown. The water portion will be on the high side this month as we had to drain our pool about halfway and refill... So the $627 is sewer, water, garbage, electricity - I'd guess $150 for water, with a summer average of $100 per month?

We pay quarterly. The last several quarters it has been ridiculous and we have been cutting the usage. Our water for 3 months has been 283. Before we starting cutting back--watering lawn regularly, letting kids play outside in the water almost everyday, washing little loads of laundry--our water bill for 3 months was about 168 or so. And that does not even include the garbage and sewer fees

Too much. Detroit charges the suburbs a mint for water. Our water should be cheaper considering we are surrounded by lakes. My water bill which contains both water and sewer is about $115 a month.

When it's colder and/or raining we actually qualify for the "frugal user discount" and our water bill runs around $25-35 at most. Problems come when it gets hotter, there is no rain and we have to water the yard and generally use more water as we're drinking more water and shower more often because it's so hot and sweaty and gross. Our bill can easily get to $100 a month. Water usage is separate from our bill for trash collection, water distribution (as opposed to usage) and sewer. That bill is just shy of $120 bi-monthly.
We can only cut so much water use, we are a family of 5. We are home because we homeschool and my husband works from home. We aren't out all day, not using water like the average family.

That sounds high, unless you have a large yard and water it often. I'm in Irvine. We pay about $36/month. We don't water our lawn that often (and it's all dead as a result), but we definitely run the dishwasher and washing machine, shower/baths daily, etc.
