How Do You Clean a Whiteboard?

The little girl I used to tend used regular markers on my whiteboard. I have used cleaners and rubbing alcohol to no avail. How do I get this stuff off without ruining the board?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I tried the dry erase markers over the other marker but that didn't work. I have a few other remedies that others have suggested that I'll try. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

Just write over it with regular dry erase marker intended for the white board. It will come right off. My custodian where I used to work showed me that trick and it has come in handy MANY times!

I scrub mine now & then w/a magic eraser. I've even done that on the cheepie laminated paperboard "dry erase" boards you can get from the Dollar Store. It doesn't damage that either.

Sometimes, if you use a regular Expo marker (whiteboard marker), and rub it all over the other marker, you can wipe it off easily. See if that works for you . . .

Hi there, try this- go over the marker marks with another dry eraser marker then erase. The marker should come off. Using the spray (white board spray) just clean off your board. Should look good as new.

i know that if you accidentally use a permanent marker (sharpie, etc) on a white board, you can actually just draw over it with a dry erase marker and it erases it. . . i don't know if this works once you've used other things on it, but it's worth a try!

It seems like I remember that using the regular maker to scribble over the makings, and wiping it off right away works, try it on a small spot first. Maybe someone else has a more recent memory of doing this, mine is several years old.

We use window cleaner and it takes it right off.

It is really easy....Take a white board marker and write over top of the regular marker and erase with the white board eraser. You may need to do it a couple of times, but it always works like a charm.

There are products on the market that you can purchase at business stores like office depot. But I use clear hand sanitizer and it cleans the white board just as good as the expensive stuff. For perment marker spray aresol hair spray so it wets the board and then wipe the board with a paper towel. I hope this will help you. J.
