I would not give a laxative to a child. Have the child eat more fruit or raw veggies and drink lots and lots of water.

Your pediatrician told you to do this, right?
Your doctors office or your pharmacist should be able to tell you how to measure for a proper dosage.

You'll get more accurate and much, much faster answers if you call your pediatrician's 24 hour nurse/advice line or talk to the pharmacist. I'd start with the medical professional who told you how much to give. That's for 2 reasons: 1) to double check the technique/amount, and 2) to let them know that their instructions weren't clear to begin with so they are more clear with every other parents going forward.

I'd call or go in to a pharmacy and ask them what that translates to in teaspoons if there's no measurement markings on the cup.

I think you need to call your doctor or pharmacist to double check the instructions you were given. According to this chart, the numbers you give 0.5 g & 1.0 g are abnormally tiny doses.

Age of child - Daily dose - Volume (mix with 8 ounces of clear liquid
6-12 months: 4 grams = 1 teaspoon of Miralax
1-3 years old: 6 grams = 2 teaspoons of Miralax
4-7 years old: 12 grams = 4 teaspoons of Miralax
8 years & up: 17 grams = 1 capful of Miralax

Go back to the pharmacy and get one of those plastic droppers or measuring spoon things with the dosage levels marked.

Just in case you haven't tried other methods, my toddlers got constipated easily and flax seed oil in their bottles really helped. And it's good for everyone. Prune juice helped too. Otherwise I know miralax is gentle but not sure how to convert to grams.

I think your dose is small because they think your little one doesn't need much help.

When my girl gets blockages she can drink Miralax 4 days in a row and finally get relief. Sometimes just one day is enough. She gets blocked up quite easily.

I would like to agree with the thought that a small dose cup from the pharmacy or on the medical isle are fine. They have teaspoons on one side and other markings on the other side and sometimes they even have 3 different measures on them.

Call Walmart pharmacy or a 24 hour pharmacy in your area and ask how much that is.

When mine were little I'd always get a syringe from the pharmacist for certain liquid meds. I just kept one through the years to measure things like this.

Your pharmacy should be able to tell you how to measure it. They have to measure these tiny amounts all the time. They might even have a measuring device that they can either give you or sell it to you for a small amount.
