How Do I Get the Word Out....

I'm trying to get more moms interested in a series of community meetings that the Utah Friends of Midwives is sponsoring. We talk about a variety of topics and just generally try to bring moms together to share information and learn from each other.

This month, October 10th, we are doing a meeting at the Sprague Library in Sugarhouse about "How to wear your baby". I want to try to get more moms to come, but I'm not sure how to really find the women who would be interested in this...

Where would you hang up flyers? Where do I find new moms?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I hit up a bunch of them, and next time I will try to get to more. There seemed to be interest just from the people working at the stores, so we'll see on Friday if lots of people are interested!

I think I responded to everyone that asked for more information, but if I missed someone, the meeting is at 3:00 this Friday, Oct. 10th at the Sprague Library in Sugarhouse!

Have you tried the local pediatrician offices? Also, the Salt Lake LLL holds their meetings at the Sprage Libray you could get in touch with them to see if they can send an email out to their memebers. I know out here (south end of the valley) our grocery stores have community bulletin board where people can post events, ect.

I would try not only midwives' offices, but also dr's offices-both OB and pediatricians (and family/general practice too). Also, the biggest way to spread info like wildfire lately is a blog. If you aren't using one to advertise, get one going, and ask anyone and everyone involved to list a link to it on their own blog or website. Between that and online message boards/email groups, you ought to be able to reach a ton of people!

La Leche League might also be a great place to help get the word out.

H.,

For your target audience: baby clothing stores, baby supply stores. Since your event is FREE many of the stores will assist you will posting information. Another place is the Whole Foods stores. Best of luck with getting the word out.

You might also wish to see if hospitals would assist.

With my whole heart,
