House Warming Gift - Dana Point,CA

Some friends of ours bought their first house back in October. In early December they had us over for dinner and we brought them a card with a gift card as a house warming gift. Now that they are all settled in they are having a house warming party, now I know I am not obligated to bring them another gift but I also don't want to show up empty handed. Wine and house plants are not an option as they don't drink wine and her husband works in the plant business. So....what should I bring?

What can I do next?

I would say since you already basically gave them a gift in the beginning, you do not need to give them another one. If you do not want to show up empty handed...maybe think about bringing over a dish or desert of some sort. That may work and be appreciated! Hope this helps! Good luck!

How about some new address labels for her to use?

I like the idea of bringing a food contribution to the party (dessert, drinks, appetizer) or a candle too.

I would definitely bring something small, you should always bring a hostess gift to a party, right? So, you could bring nice monogrammed napkins, a pretty candle & holder, a small cookbook that you think they might enjoy, a pretty dish full of candy, etc. Have fun!

What about a bouquet of cut flowers or an arrangement? That is not the same thing as landscape industry... pretty sure they don't deal in cut flowers.

Dinner in a basket. Very inexpensive and its nice because you made it yourself and it actually is quite useful. Go to a craft store and purchase a nice wicker basket or container (maybe you already have something around the house) Then get some pasta and a mason jar or glass jar and fill it with the pasta, and do the same with a nice jar of pasta sauce. Take the label off a store bought glass jar and just tie ribbons around the necks of the jars to pretty them up. Since they dont drink wine, skip the traditional small bottle of wine and maybe add a bottle or two of sparkling water and you could even add another glass jar filled with some type of dessert. Throw in a couple of themed/ colored napkins and wrap everything up in celephane (sp) wrap and Voila.
Its nice to have everything you need for a meal without having to think about it and makes a great gift
Good Luck

a photo frame would be nice

Some ideas:
A pretty vase
Set of coffee mugs with teas or cocoas
Tea towels
Yankee candle
