My daughter will be 15 this Sunday. And I noticed her back is breaking out really bad. She showers daily and she uses a back scrubber to help exfoliate. I never had that bad of a problem at that age with acne. Does anyone know about products that can help?? We have used every Noxema cream, soap there is. She is scarring and is very insecure about it. Any advice!!! Help... I don't know if it is just hormonal or her diet, possibly combonation?

What can I do next?

I had terrible acne as a teen, so bad in fact that I ended up taking acutane. I was lucky and didn't suffer any of the negative side effects! I would take her to the dermatologist and see what they recommend. Also, try changing shampoos. to this day i will break out on my back if i try a new shampoo. i have very sensitive skin and sounds like your daughter does too. also try hypo-alergenic laundry detergents (also a source of body acne). I discovered tea tree oil as a teen for my acne and LOVE LOVE LOVE the stuff! not only will it heal and clear the acne it helps prevent scars, and it is all natural!! it has a strong odor so i suggest applying at night then a shower in the am. cetaphil is also great and very gentle, i used it when my acne was at it's worst. sometimes the soaps we use just make it worse. cetaphil is gentle but cleans and moisterizes at the same time. which is very necessary. try all this and see a dermatologist. but see if the home remadies work first before trying meds. there are a lot of icky side effects (trust me I went thru this!) and having meds not work is frustrating for a teen. good luck and let her know that she is not the only one who has had this issue! I did and I am fine now, she will get thru this (and you will too!).

Hi C.

I second the Arbonne Clear Advantage. I have recently developed some adult acne (lucky me, eh?) but ever since using the Clear Advantage my face looks great! Your daughter could use it on her back. I am a consultant as well but I'm not trying to push anything on you - just let you know that I really do believe in the product since I've seen it first hand. It's been compared to Proactive results and actually tested better!

I would also recommend switching to a FREE and CLEAR laundry detergent (I LOVE "ALL") - no perfumes, dyes, etc. and changing her pajama tops often (or sheets if she's a tank top girl). This has helped me also.

Teenager are notorius for having a HORRIBLE diet. It's usually very deficient in vital nutrients. Get her on a good multivitamin and an additional Vitamin B complex at lunch. She also needs to take additional Vitamin A (do not go above 25,000 IU's of Vitamin A since it's fat soluble and will be stored and can become toxic.) I would recommned using Beta-Carotene because that will be changed over to Vitamin A as the body needs it. And make sure she takes Vitamin E at about 400 IU's per day and takes Calcium at night before bed. Here is the real kicker... she needs to drink 1/2 her body weight in ounces of water EVERY day. Ditch the soda and other sugary beverages because they only make things worse. If she is in sports have her add an additional 8 ounces of water.
I study this field and also make a living off of designing meal plans to help treat certain ailments and selling vitamins. (NO it's not herbalife!!) Let me know if you want my help!
