I'm currently pregnant with my second at 37.5 weeks. After the birth of my first I had some pretty nasty hemorrhoids. After time they became smaller and were no longer a problem. During this pregnancy they have been a nusance, but not a problem until this weekend. I AM IN PAIN! I've done cold compresses, sitz bath, not sitting or standing to long (which is difficult given how far along I am). I've used a little Preperation H, but the pain just won't go away. Every movement hurts. I've put a call into my OB and am waiting for a reply. Just wondering if anyone out there has any other suggestions to help as I still have a few more weeks to go until birth and heven only knows what these suckers will be like after that. Thanks.

What can I do next?

They can lance it in the doctor’s office in no time and it will relieve a lot of the pain instantly. I also recommend using stool softeners the dr should also give you a prescription cream which is similar to preparation h which will cause it to dry up. I hope you feel better soon. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone I just went through it!!

I keep my prep H suppositories in the freezer and my tucks in the 'fridge. it really feels good to use something cold and the suppositories are so small that freezing them wont hurt you when you use them.

are they hurting just when you poop? this is probably tmi - but if your poop is hard, then try some v8 fusion juice or prune juice. i had them really bad right after i had mine and still have them flare up so i drink some of the juice every day to keep the poop soft. apples will also help.

I am so sorry, I feel your pain. I had the same problem! Your Dr. can give you a prescription for them that works wonders. WAY better than prep H. Be sure to ask for it. You are not supposed to use it for too long during pregnancy because it has steroids in it, but I only used it for a couple of days here and there and it helped. Afterwards you can use it regularly and they will go away really fast. Also, not sure if you are wanting an epidural or not. I didn't have one with my first two kids but HAD to have one with my 3rd because my blood pressure spiked and they were afraid I might have to have an emergency c-section. So - had the epidural, my blood pressure stayed high but didn't go up any further, and had the baby vaginally. My hemroids were no where near as bad as when I didn't have the epidural. I think because I couldn't push as hard. AND - it didn't make me feel loopy or anything that I thought it would make me feel like. I could feel pressure, but not pain. It was GREAT ~ it wasn't something that I would've done if they hadn't forced me to, but after I was wondering why I refused it for my first 2 deliveries. Good Luck and congrats!

Oh - and get some stool softeners. You can buy the generic kind at target for like $4 and they help - I took one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. My dr. said they were ok to take while prego.

It's a really simple proceedure to have them lanced. Mine was done in the doctor's office and within a day or so, I was comfortable again. I would never suffer again like I did before. Just do it.

Use a LOT of Prep H, and get some witch hazel. I bought a bottle of witch hazel and some cotton balls and would SOAK them with witch hazel and hold them there for a few minutes. It helps to cool and is supposed to make the blood vessles contract, which shrinks them. Good luck, what a pain in the a*s, literally :)

You can have them removed after you deliver. Sounds like you are doing everything I know to do. Good luck.
