I had them for a month after my second and they hadn't gone down at all. TUCKS, WITCHHAZEL, PREPARATION H...none of it worked. There is a prescription cream Analpram (nice name) and it started to help a little.

My chiropractor told me not to long ago an herbal remedy (not witchhazel) and I can't remember the name of it. I know that's not any help but if you went to a health food store or an herbal lady they might be able to tell you what it was.

Cortizone is a topical ointment that will help shrink the hemmoroids. There are over the counter 1% and 2% creams that will help. Also, see what you can do about straining when having bowel movements. Possibly a gentle laxative or fiber drink.
It happens to us all! Male and female alike!

I had horrible hemorroids at the end of my second pregnancy, to the point where I could hardly walk it hurt so much! There is a new drug that is a MIRACLE, the only thing that gave me relief. It's called rectagel, and I got the prescription from my OB. By the way, just to reassure you, I was so afraid I'd be troubled forever with them after such a bad flare up, but I've never had a problem since. I really hope this helps, hang in there!

Did you save your sitz bath contraption from the hospital? What about your perineal water bottle. use either to apply gentle heated water to the area each time you need to go for the next week.

The only other thing I could suggest is warmer than usual baths making sure to rest on your back not on your tush. keep your feet out of the water during that time too.

I can't use preparation h and have to rely on non medicated help for this too.

Did you know that DHS is helping all Oklahomans get health insurance. It's called O-EPIC and they have two programs. The first one helps employers pay for insurance for thier employees. The employer is responsible for paying only $75 then the employee pays a percentage a month and DHS or the Oklahoma Health Care Authority reimburses them for anything over those amounts combined. The second program is for people whose employers will not offer insurance at all. They can get insurance paying only the percentage rate and DHS/OCHA covers the rest. The base income for this is like 185% of the poverty level and that calculates to about 34k for a family of 4.

The kids are covered by Sooner care on this program and income restrictions apply.

You're supposed to call the Soonercare number for information. I think this one of the numbers ###-###-####

There's a number inside the Sooner Care handbook too but I can't find mine right now.

Hey C.,
My name is C. and I too had hemmoroids with both of my daughters. I am also going to school for my RN at RSU so we have covered this in my post-partum classes. A few suggestions include lots of fiber and water. More fruits and veggies as these will help the stool to pass easier. Try to go as soon as you feel the urge but only stay on the commode for 2-3 minutes to keep the blood from settling in your rectum. (try not to strain) Some comfort measures aside from witch hazel and prep H are nice warm sitz baths where you submerge your bottom for 15-30 minutes in warm water. Sometimes this can be followed by ice packs on the rectum to help ease swelling. These are things that helped me and have helped others I know. Hope they are helpful!

Hey C. - been there! And have been more prone to get them ever since being pregnant the first time 5 years ago, by the way. :( I hated the idea of this, but the hemmoiroidal suppositories, combined with the Prep H wipes, AND the Preh H (I felt the cream, with the green on the tube worked best for me) did the trick. You can also take Ibuprofin to reduce the inflammation. ALSO (told you I've been there - lol!) a sitz bath (baking soda and epsom salt in a warm bath) was very soothing and is great for your skin as well!

I feel for you, girl - hope it gets better!

Here is a product my friend took that made her severe discomfort nearly disappear with in 12 hours (I know it was less than 12 hrs but I can't recall what the exact amount of time was.) She uses it now for occasional flare ups. I also know someone else that bought a single remedy of calcarea fluor which also relieved them significantly. At 8 bucks a bottle for 500 tabs, that is pretty reasonable especially since it is both very safe and extremely effective.

Health food stores such as whole foods, wild oats and the like should sell comparable remedies. I know you can at least get the calc fluor at those places. I am not sure what you can get by way of "hemorrhoid remedy". I know that the company for the link above ships relatively fast when you place orders online or call.

Good luck! I wish you comfort soon!!

Tucks or similar item works well, and so do nice hot baths. On the flip side, cold washcloths applied for a few minutes are also soothing.
Take heart, they will most likely go away on their own... eventually....

Try getting Tucks pads; you can get the genaric kind and wipe with those instead of toilet paper for a while and aldo use Hemrroid cream. I had to do that after my youngest daughter was born. Even before she was born. With her big sister I didn't have to worry about it and had no clue what they were. If ya need anymore advice don't hesitate to e-mail me at ____@____.com

I have had hemmoroids for 9 years. They are evil!!
I find that the Prep. H wipes work fantastic. You can even keep it on the area for awhile and that helps even more...but regular toilet paper does nothing but make the situation worse!

My 'roids were practically legendary in the hospital after I had my son. The Tucks pads helped, Cortisone creams for sure, and I used Colace. It's a suppository that helps with pain, inflammation, and a stool softener. Combining all of these really seemed to help. Good luck! I literally feel your pain!

Sitz bath and Prep. H. I get them every single month right before my period so I have learned that if I start treatment at the first sign it works alot better. I have been doing this for 9 years now. Also a homeschooling mom to Isaiah age 9

Well, Tucks IS witch hazel on a pad so I would suggest that but you said you already tried witch hazel.

A sitz bath should offer some relief...
