Help with Stains on Kids Clothes

Help!! I can not get the watermelon stains out of my kids clothes. I use shout advanced spray gell. Even if i spray it on as soon as the clothes come off the stain will not come out. Any suggestions would be welcome. I'm running out of clothes.

What can I do next?

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I am now trying different products that were suggested. The oxiclean has worked on some things. Thanks so much!! ***UPDATED 01/02/09*** I have been using Spray n Wash with Resolve and it is getting everything out. Evern dried in stains.

My grandfather was a marine mechanic for many years and he would use a solution called "Goop" (yes, that is the real name!) to get the grease from his hands. I've learned that this stuff works great for almost any kind of stained clothing. You can find it at almost any grocery store and it's not very expensive. It normally comes in a small white jar.

Try some oxyclean. Get the stain wet and put some oxyclean on it and scrub it. Also, with shout or any other stain remover, work the product in with a toothbrush or a spoon.

When my cousins, sisters and I were your daughters' ages, my parents took our shirts off for watermelon and then hosed us off in the backyard.

try meen green. then wash them again or use oxiclean. If that dont work use lemon juice. or dawn dish liquid.I worked at waffle house for a long time i used to get lots of stains and i have 4 kids. Those are things I usualy use.

If you have a dollar general close to you, look in their cleaning section and get the stuff called AWESOME. I swear by this stuff! I use it to clean everything! It gets baby poop stains out and even got red face paint off of my cream couch! The name says it all! Good Luck!

I can't say that I tried it on watermelon but I am a big fan of Dawn dishwashing liquid...I pretreat w/ it and if it doesn't come out in the first wash i hang dry and try again ...I never use the dryer if i am working on a stain...Good luck :)

Try this... get some oxiclean in a tub (the powder) and fill a large bucket or a utility sink, or a sink that doesn't get used alot, full of hot water and a scoop or 2 of oxiclean and let clothes soak for a few hours or days. This has always worked for me.

Hello, I will also suggest Oxy Clean the powder in the wash and Liquid Tide. I use Liquid Tide and pour it right on the stain and let it sit before I wash the clothes. Also, once the clothes have been dried in the dryer the stains almost never come out of the clothes. Good Luck :-)

I would suggest the laundry products made by Melaleuca. I've been using them for over 6 years and one of the first things it saved for me was a white shirt my two-year-old was wearing and got chocolate all over. I used Prespot, MelaBrite and the MelaPower and put in a capful of Solumel and it ALL came out. We've saved a LOT of clothes this way!

I wanted to suggest a book I bought. It is Good Housekeeping Stain Rescue. The A-Z guide to Removing Smudges, Spots & Other Spills. I ordered it through a book club but I am sure you could find it in stores or on Amazon. I looked up watermelon, although it did not specify watermelon, I looked up fruit, and it gave the directions as follows (although, you may have tried this already)
1. Scrape off exxces fruit
2. Flush under cold running water
3. Launder, using the warmest water and the type of bleach that are safe for the fabric.

In each section, it gives directions for FABRIC, UPHOLSTREY, CARPET.....in the upholstrey and carpet section, it suggests making a mixture of one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of cold water and sponge the stain with solution.....on carpet it mentions the same mixture however adding household ammonia (staying away from the sudsy or scented ones)It says ammonia works well on dried blood, perspiration, citrus, juice, flet-tip pen, urine, and acid based stains. Hope this helps, THIS BOOK IS FULL OF KNOWLEDGE!
