My daughter has outgrown her baby room :(
She has a white bedroom set (trundle bed, night stand, book shelf), a corner computer desk that is mostly hot pink, with a hot pink office chair. She has a hot pink framed mirror. She has new bedding that is lavender and black zebra print.
Any cool paint scheme ideas that would work with hot pink and lavender???
right now she just has white walls with the wallpaper border she had when she was a baby...so it's time to update...I'm just not very creative...I know it can all be brought together...so I'm looking for ideas...

What can I do next?

I would say brown. You can find some pretty shades, just bring home a bunch of paint chips and cut them apart and tape them around the room on the walls. Remove any you don't like. You have to admit, brown does go with both pink and purple very nicely.

I would do hot pink, black and white stripes... :-)pink and black stripes would be thinner than the white...
Or do something on ONE wall. Paint the walls a creamy light purpleish color and use different colors to do a gum ball theme on one wall. (A large gumball machine with big colored dots falling out of it.)
You could paint the walls a neutral color and use pictures/ art to bring in the hot pink and lavender tones... Or just wavy lines of the hot pink and lavender near the top of the room where a top border could go...

Hello K..
My daughters favorite colors are purple, pink, and blue. So when doing her room, I painted the walls purple, the trim pink, and the closet door blue. I also found some velcrow stickies that have clips to display art work and pictures. I didn't have the guts to use the magnet paint on her closet doors. But I was going to do that and then everytime we go somewhere we would buy a magnet to put on her door.
Good luck. Hope I helped. I went to Lowes and found my paint ideas.

If you are not extremely creative and just trying to update I would either paint one wall the Hot Pink or the Lavendar and call it a day. Using the picture idea frames can be purchased at Wallmart for less than $3 each and they too can be painted creatively have her help she is 10 or get creative with the frames and make each one different then make a collage of her pictures with family and friends on one wall. I did something like that for my son and used scrap book paper with a picture on it in an 8x10 frame and all was random but it looks great and he loves it. I found that our bed frame could be painted so it was yellow and we painted it a tan to extend its life. You may need to sand it slightly before you paint it but that maybe too could be hot pink. Oh and those borders come down really easily with of all things Fabric Softener. Use a gallon of warm water with a quarter cup fabric softener and a sponge and score it get it as wet as you can and then let it sit 10 minutes. Add more fabric softener if it doesn't seem to be working. Plus it is clean.

I had to update my daughter's room too. We painted opposite walls the same color 2 dark purple - 2 - teal. She has a lime green bed spread (zebra would work) Teal pillow case, pink princess canopy, and big dots on the walls. They are orange and pink. I got them from an office store. They are called wall pops. I just had someone ask me how i got my dots painted on so perfect and were amazed when I told them that they were stickers. She also has assorted colored butterflies hanging from the ceiling. She loves the room and the colors work for when she goes into the teen years. We can just change some of the accessories. I took the colors for the walls from one of her American girl doll pillows. I figure they pay designers big money to come up with this stuff so i just had to match the paint chips to it. I have taken paint chips into the store before and matched it with a color scheme that I liked on something. It takes the guess work out of it. Hope this helps,

L.

I would do Lavander and Pink pok a dots or you maybe able to do every other wall pink the other white than do a lepard print on the walls with purple on the pink and black on the white or vise versa. I think that would look sweet. take her to sherwin willams and see what theyhe to say. Over on the wall se has her computer i would magnitize that wall so she can hang things with magnets on there.

I don't have any ideas - but I like the suggestion from the other poster. I do have a suggestion how to get the wallpaper border off with no problems. Put warm water and fabric softener in a spray bottle, spray the border (make sure you have towels to catch the drips) so it is fully soaked. Let it sit for about 1-2 min then use a plastic (not metal) scraper and it will just peel off leaving no marks on the walls and a room smelling like fabric softener. I did my daughters room and it worked great, took me about an hour to do the entire room - including clean up. Good luck
