HELP! Taking chemistry as a pre-requisite, working towards PA so science is going to be hot & heavy. That means math too. I'm almost 50 so my math/chem/science memory is RUSTY.

I know there are resources out there to help "reboot", but can you recommend any FREE, good for the older-student videos, webpages, etc. that worked for you?

I just want to be efficient and not spend 3 hours trying to find the best sight when you lovely people might know just the thing :)

What can I do next?

Khan Academy.

Also, youtube is full of instructional videos. Our son is at the algebra stage and he loves "MathDude".

Are you taking chemistry right now, or are you planning to take it in the spring? Are you not required to take a math class in order to take chemistry?

I'm asking, because I teach remedial math at the college level, and most students are required to take certain math classes before they can even register for a chemistry class. Also, students are required to take a placement exam to determine which math class they can register for.

But to answer your question, I'd have to agree with youtube. I took a 12 year break from teaching, and part of my job (at first) was tutoring students in classes that I hadn't taught in 12 years. I couldn't believe some of the things I had forgotten, but I would just look on youtube when I hit a topic I couldn't remember. It took about 5 minutes to refresh my memory. I've been really impressed with how good some of those videos are.

Are you taking a class right now? I think the easiest way to approach this is just day by day. If there is a math or chem topic you come across that is stumping you, go to YouTube and type in the topic. There are some great YouTube videos out there - free and usually short and to the point.
