I have a 1month old and she wont stop screaming! If your not holding her then she is not happy. Which would be ok but then there is the spoiling thing and my 2 yr old on top of it feels so left out. for instince her screaming started this morning at 4am and didnt stop till 11:30 for her nap which was only 2 1/2 hrs. Not very long for a month old baby. Well any way my question is one how do I try to stop her from crying other than holding all the time? and 2 how do I calm my nerves at 4am whn 2 yr old and husband are sleeping? ok and one more how do I show my 2 yr old that she isnt forgotten about. Just that sissy needs some attention?
I feel so bad for her. this morning i wasnt even able to put the baby down to hold lita and say good morning.
please help me in any way you can
thank you thank you

Is she spitting up a lot? My daughter started screaming at 1 month and spitting up a bunch - it turns out she had reflux and once we started medicine to stop the burning - she was the sweetest baby ever. I can also recommend a Baby Bjorn. At this stage you can face her towards you (chest to chest) and have both hands free. It was a life saver for me cause my daughter, who is now 9 months, also wanted to be close. You cannot spoil a 1 month old - remember that one month ago she was warm and cozy in your tummy and now she doesn't always have you - and that's kind of scary. Also - maybe you can have your 2 year old help out a little, like sing the baby some songs or you guys read the baby a story together while you snuggle on the couch. Hope it all works out well!!!

It is very possible she has collick. I would ask your doctor. It could be her formula. Is her tummy hard...does she cry more if you lay her on her tummy?

Hope things have improved since your post. I agree with the info in the previous posts and want to add my info. I am a 36 year old stay at home mom with 3 boys, 6,6 and 7. ( I am now taking limited freelance photography jobs now that all are in school, but I was strictly theirs for the first 6 years) My first son was never put down. He never slept in his expensive crib. Never. He sometimes would be happy in a baby swing although he would not use bouncy seats or the excersaucer. I did everything holding him even cooking etc... He is now seven and is not spoiled! He is a thoughtful, sweet boy who loves school and is very popular with other kids and teachers. As soon as he could crawl and then walk he was off on his own. Once he had independent movement he was very confident. I think you are wise to be concerned about your two year old. Try to get her involved and foster family unity. There is a lot of competition between my 3 boys. Especially because of the closeness in age. Now that they are in school it is very obvious that there are many inequalities between the different classrooms and sometimes one childs wins something in a drawing or contest of luck. I am constantly showing them how to be happy for each others good fortune and not be jealous. I know this will be hard for a two year old but just make as much contact as possible and be positive. Get her involved by letting her play peek-a-boo and other games that 2 yr olds love with the baby. If you get a baby carrier, get her one too for her dolls or stuffed animals - make one if you can't find one! Just get her involved so she's not standing around watching. Good luck!

I feel your pain...mine was the same. You cannot spoil a baby that young...not until 6 months or so (or AT LEAST 3). Mine ended up having a bad case of GERD (acid reflux). Check out the signs for that and see if you notice any of the symptoms. She may also have gas trouble and need different milk/formula. Mine needed Nutramigen and medicine for her acid reflux and it helped tremendously. She's also got a pretty fussy temperament, but that's not constant like it was at first. Mine started at 2 weeks until about 3 months pretty bad...colicky. It will get better, but I know that doesn't help you really right now, especially with the 2 year old. I would just keep explaining what's going on and try to involve her to "help" by having her talk to the baby or caress her arms or go get this for mommy/baby, etc. Make her feel important that way?? Hope this helps. Try to breathe deep and remember, it'll get better. Best wishes!!
