I am looking for suggestions on excellent child care for my 8 month old. We have tried two in-home care providers and have been unhappy with both. The first lacked confidence and seemed overwhelmed all of the time. The environment was clean, but there was no schedule. The children dictated the day, our daughter would not nap or eat well and was clearly unhappy. THe newest provider has what our other provider did not. She is experienced and loves on our daughter. Our daughter seems much happier, naps and eats well. My concern is the cleanliness of the day care. At first, I thought it was just a little dirty and that I might need to lower my standards, but I have now determined it is unsanitary. I borrowed the restroom and there was NO SOAP. I am at a loss and considering leaving my job or opening a care facility that has all of my requirements and I am not sure that is a solution. Are there options for care that provide excellent care with a clean, healthy environment where children receive love and attention they deserve? We live in Overland Park (138th), but I will drive for great care.

Otherwise, I've heard good things about Primrose off 135th and Nall and we've used Goddard by JCCC and been pleased. The JCCC owner also owns the Goddard by the post office/Prarie Life/Walmart in Olathe. We would return there and I would consder them for infants as well.

My daughter attends Hillcrest Christian Child Development Center in Overland Park - off of College and Quivira, across from JCCC. She has been there since she was an infant. It is the most wonderful center - my daughter actually does not like to leave at the end of the day. We go to Special Beginnings in Olathe off of Murlen. They also have a facility in Lenexa and are opening a brand new one on 435 and Metcalf. The lead teachers and directors have been there for many years. Let me know if you want any more information. I just love it there.
