Honestly C., I wouldn't worry about it. Some babies just take longer. If you are really worried though, call and talk to his pediatrician.

Good luck!

Sit with him on the floor and role a ball to him. Get it to him a few times then role it 1/2 way between the 2 of you. Don't give it to him let him wiggle his way over. He may get fustrated at fisrt but eventualy he will go for it.

On a side note from a mother of 3 with my youngest just about to turn 11 months old and my olderst being 7. Don't rush it. He will crawl. I know it is a mile stone moment when he crawls but that is just another step away from being a baby he becomes and they time flies by fast. Once he crawls there is no going back and he will be non stop!!! Enjoy the moment.

Good Luck!

Mine skipped the sit up step and went to crawling, scooting around the sofa and gate, and the walked at 8 months.

my daughter never crawled!! she went straight to walking. And I have had other people tell me that their children did the same thing so don't panic if he doesn't crawl. I recommend just keep holding his little fingers and letting him work on talking steps. But also, you can take one of his favorite toys and put them a couple feet in front of him and let him figure a way to get it or be there egging him on.

Good Luck!

hi there, my son is about the same age & he just started the first stage of crawling, it looks more like a low crawl, but what i did is i would sit at one side of the room, take something he loved, in my sons case a tv remote, & encourage him to come to it, after a few trys he started to push himself forward, & now hes getting better...so i hope it helps...if you dont mind me asking where you live? im always looking for mothers who have kidas around my sons age to get together with

Honestly there is not much you can do. Every child is different my son started crawling at 8 1/2 months and my daughter at 6 1/2 months. They do it when they are ready. You can try to entice him with something that you know he would really want. I wouldn't worry about it, he will do it when he truly wants to get around. My son started crawling when there was something he really wanted to get to and realized that if he wanted it he had to figure out how to get to it.

My advice (you asked for it!) is: as long as you've checked with your pediatrician (9 onth check up would be a good time) and there's no medical concern, don't worry about it (I know, easier said than done sometimes). My daughter refused to walk on her feet until she was 18 months old. She went everywhere on her knees (no hands, just knees). Thank goodness she was our 3rd and not much phased me anymore. When he's ready to crawl, he will and then you'll want him to stay put! ; )
