HELP! Blue Tinted Nail Polish REMOVER Stain on Laminate Sealed Wood Table

I need help, MAMAS! I have googled and googled and all I have found is cleaning remedies for getting nail POLISH stains out and smoothing nail polish remover spots out of a stained wood table.

Blue-tinted nail polish remover bottle wasn't closed all the way and sat on table for several hours unnoticed. It DID NOT eat away at the laminated top, a blue stain somehow seeped through to the solid wood underneath.

I have already tried acetone, mayonnaise, and paste made from fireplace ashes.

HELP, I love this table and will try anything!

What can I do next?

I don't know if this will happen for you and I hope this helps you. When stuff spills, even nail polish remover, and it makes a ring or wet spot, it usually goes away after a few days. I'm hoping this is the case for you. Sorry I don't have any advice to give.

I would talk to a furniture refinisher. They're professionals, so should know what to do.

If you still have the bottle of remover, see if there is contact information. Google the company and see if they have a question/comment line.(they should) They will be able to help you out and hopefully give you additional advice to save your table.

On a side note, we are big fans of the Magic Eraser. I have had success getting lime green sharpie off of a laminate, sealed wood dresser...worth a shot...

This is a new one on me-but I cleaned houses in Arlington for 30 years and here is what happened about a year ago. A massuse sat a bottle of alcohol on a nice, expensive desk-not once but twice in two different places! We tried all the remedies you could name to no avail. Then I came up with an old method-tooth paste. AND IT WORKED! Put any kind of toothpaste on it and gently work it into the stain in small circles. Let dry overnight and then wipe off with a damp cloth and dry it immediately. If it works, then you can polish with your favorite furniture polish or put vasaline and let set a few hours then wipe off for a possible shine.
I am clueless if this doesn't work-but her daughter could not believe it because the stain was a few years old. It also worked on her nice formal dining room table where a hospice nurse laid a cotton pledget with alcohol in it before giving her a shot.
Good Luck

Is it laminate like laminate floors, or is it real wood? Laminate has sort of a photograph on the lower layer with protective clear layers above. The stain may not be able to come out if it hits that bottom layer.

There is a place that can come out to your house to look at it. I think it's called Furniture Medic or something like that. I'm sure they are not cheap. They have come to my house to do touch-up work on newly purchased furniture and did a great job. Good luck!

A Mary Kay Director friend of mine accidentally got gold spray paint on her husbands new truck. She quickly grabbed the Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover & rubbed the gold paint spots off the truck with a cotton ball. Don't know if it will work on nail polish on your table but you might try it. It's gentle & shouldn't hurt the wood.
