Permanent Marker on White Dresser

My daughter got magic marker on our kitchen table and I used the magic eraser to get it off. But at the same time it took off some of the finishing on the table.

Try the Magic Erasers that Mr. Clean makes. They work really good on most things. I think they're about 2 or 3 dollars for a box of two. Good luck.

white paste tooth paste, not the gel. My mom had marker on her wood table and it took a few times but it did come off.

I googled it and found that a pencil eraser will often do the trick. You can also try rubbing it with white toothpaste and a clean cloth, but you may need to do it several times.

Try baby wipes or the Mr Clean Eraser. They both are awesome at getting anything off.

Try vinegar, keep dabbing the area with a cotton ball.

Mr. Clean eraser will get permanent marker off of wood. I have done it...and it worked! Just wet the Mr. Clean eraser down and rub on the area, it will come right off.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser works great on getting permanent marker off of dressers, walls, wood, I've been there and you can't even tell, it works that good.

my husband found out that 91% rubbing alchol takes off permanant marker from the wall. someone else told me aerosal hairspray works too. (we haven't tried the hairspray) Good luck, M.

The magic eraser is great. It gets everything off! If the paint is well sealed (you may want to test an inconspicuous patch first to check) I would try nail polish remover first, since I swear that cleans everything with little to no friction, so I think it reduces the likelihood of removing paint. If that doesn't work, I'd go right to the magic eraser.

This may sound odd, but Deep Woods Off mosquito repellant worked wonders for our walls/furniture when my 2 year old tried to be Picasso. I sprayed it on and the marker ran like water.

My best advice to you is go out and buy a Magic Eraser. I use one everywhere in my house, from flat computer screens (never let a 3 yr old around a permanant marker!!) to walls, to floors, to doors, and it takes everything away!!! At the very most, you might have to use a little touch up paint on the dresser afterwards, but its better than having marker on your white dresser, that's for sure!!

Acetone nail polish remover will get it out, but test a small area that is not visible first to make sure it won't ruin the paint. My mother-in-law also introduced a miracle stain remover for laundry that is equal parts water, ammonia, and dawn dishwashing liquid, and there is no reason that shouldn't work on solid surfaces too. You can use a paste of baking soda and water. I've used this on an oak table and it didn't harm the wood.

If the below does not work try toothpaste... I believe it is the baking soda in it that does the trick. I have used it numrous times in art to get the permanet markers off my hands and table.

I used hairspray to get permanent marker out of my couch. I don't know what it would do to the paint on the dresser...so maybe try a small area in the back first??? Good luck! Kids...such fun :)

try using a pencil eraser.. if it's a shiny finish it may just rub off (worked for me once)

My oldest daughter used a permanent black Sharpie to color on our wood work, her baby sister and her self a couple years ago and I found the best (and easiest) way to get it of was with baby wipes. It took all the black marks off our window trim, the hardwood floors and most of her sister. Hope this works for you too.

Spray it with hairspray, which works on most kinds of permanent ink.

Magic Erasers or Goof Off will both work with no problem. Rub lightly as sometimes these will take the very top layer of paint off too...better than a big black streak!
