We are heading to Indiana tomorrow and need to find a place to stay the night with our two little kids. We've stayed in Rockford a zillion times, but need to go in toward Chicago another hour or so to make the trip home on Sunday shorter.

Any areas that are "safe" and reasonable? Less than $100 a night? I drive through the area a lot but haven't stopped at any exits. I looked online, but every hotel makes itself sound super nice....I don't believe that.

Looking for a place off 290, 294, or even 80/94 on our way that is not in the ghetto and would possibly have a pool (although we may get in too late for that). Coming from MN.

No bed bugs, please!!!! :)

THANK YOU!!!!

What can I do next?

Check out tripadvisor.com
People give their thoughts on their hotel visit and they upload their photos/real photos.

As for the bed bugs - they occur in all types of hotels, motels, inns, etc. They dont discriminate. ;-)
Just look at the edging/seam of the mattress - if you see little black specs, they are most likely bed bugs.

Good luck!

Another vote for the Oak Brook area. Anything near the Oak Brook Center (mall) will be pretty nice.

There is also a town called Lombard that is one town over from Oak Brook. Anything near the Yorktown Center (another mall) will be fairly nice. There is a Target there too.

Good luck!

There is a Hilton Garden Inn off of 294 & River Road in Des Plaines (very close to O'Hare). They have a full sized pool & a kiddie pool with one of those mushrooms that pours water off of it, and water spouting up from underground. It is right next to the new Rivers casino. My parents usually stay there when they come to visit us (they drive from MN, and instead of taking the 90 route thru past Madison, they stay on 94 and go by Milwaukee and then use the 894 bypass.) I just checked Hotels.com and they are showing it for $99. 2930 S River Rd, Des Plaines, IL, 60018 United States 866-539-0036

ETA: Forgot to mention it is VERY clean!!

I would recommend the Oak Brook Area. It is at the intersection of 290/294/88. There is a large outdoor mall there, plenty of resturants and quite a few hotels. I live close by and have never stayed at any...but there are many on Butterfield (22nd) Avenue. Good luck.
