I have two sons adopted from Korea through Holt International. I was just curious how many other moms out there on this site have done the same. I would love to hear your stories.

I have not adopted any babies but my parents did. They adopted 2 korean girls and one korean boy (the boy and one girl were also through Holt). Don't know any stories I have are what you are looking for since it has been a few (over 20 years ago---boy that sounds like a long time yet it seems like yesterday). My brother is not with us anymore (died when he was 18) but my two sisters are and both have been back to Korea--the youngest was there a couple of years ago (stayed for a year) and was even on a plane that brought babies that were being adopted by people in America. I'll ask her exactly when that was and if they were for parents in this area. Let me know what kind of stories you are looking for. My sister was a baby (10 months) when she came over on the plane and my brother was 7 years old and my other sister was a teanager when we got her. I remember going to the camp in Iowa when I was younger that was for families who adopted Korean kids.

We have 6 adopted kids. All from the U.S. Only the youngest did we get as a newborn (15 days old when we brought her home). We adopted thru the foster care system (except the baby). We have 3 biological children too.

Hello,

We have one bio son and one adopted son. We were able to be at our adopted son's birth, it was awesome and so emotional!! Our oldest son now 17 is in total love with his little brother (2) and his only regret is that we were not able to adopt sooner! We met his bmom on Parent Profiles and she was from the US. We have an open adoption but she has kinda dropped out of the picture once our son turned 1 we have not heard from her in over a year. I still send pics 2 times a year but we never get a response from her. I am hoping in time that she will come back around and open communication again but I dont want to push her until she is ready.

We would love to adopt a baby girl but at this point we know it has to be a local adoption b/c we can not afford all the big fees associated with an agency adoption.

Yes adoption is the best thing ever! I can not believe what a blessing our adopted son has been to our family! Now if we could only add a little pink to this very blue house =o)

Hugs to all!

I think that it is a wonderful thing that you did. I have experience with adoption but on the other end. When I was 20 I gave birth to a little girl. I def did not feel ready to be a parent at 20 so I gave a wonderful couple what they call the greatest gift that anyone has ever given them. She is 7 now and has a wonderful life. The adoption is semi-open which means that we keep in touch through the agency. I send a letter to the agency and they send it to the parents and vise versa. When I get a letter from them it always ends with a thank you for their daughter.
I think that all birth moms and adoptive parents hold a special place in each others hearts. I know that I have a special place in their heart and they in mine.
Congrats on your adoptions and the wonderful things you are doing to make the world a better place!!

My husband and I have adopted 7 children. Our oldest we adopted as an infant domestically through a private agency.

Our younger 6 were all adopted through the foster care system. We adopted them 2 at a time as each "pair" is at least 1/2 bio sibs.

I have a cousin that has also adopted 7 and my sister is in the process of adopting 3.

Hi.
My husband and I adopted from Holt as well. Our daughter is now 7, her name is Zoee and we adopted her when she was 10 months old. We live in Ontario, Oregon. Would love to hear from you.
