Have Been Told I Can't Get into Corporate world...Can This Be True?

HELP! I have been in the non-profit world for about 7 years now. Handling all marketing initiatives, from print to media to planning special events. I want to get into the corporate world and willing to take pretty much anything as long as I can get my food in the door. ...BUT NOONE will look at my resume..I've been told it is going to be very, very hard to break into the corporate world...Is this true???

What can I do next?

Hi M.. I just responded to another similar posting, but wanted to respond to you as well. You have got to check out Arbonne International's patent-pending products, compensation program and business plan! It is truly like no other. I have been working a business with Arbonne for nearly a year now and have enjoyed every single minute of it! Plus, I've nearly replaced my income of when I was working fulltime (and on-call 24/7 mind you!) as a Public Relations Manager for six years in Corporate America! And, now I work about 15-20 hours a week from home and can take off whenever I need to for my family! I love it! Please feel free to check out my website for further information: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com. Good luck to you!

It's all in the way you present yourself and your skills. Don't let anyone tell you you can't. Good luck!

I disagree. If you have the talents that fit the job description you have a chance. I stayed home for 2 years with first when she was born. Then decided to go back into the corporate world and had no problems. Don't lose faith.

I've worked in government, then nonprofit, then an agency environment, then corporate, then back to nonprofit. I was told it would be difficult to move from corporate to nonprofit, but I found a job after four months of looking. I know people who have left my nonprofit employer for corporate positions, so it's completely do-able. You might have a professional resume writer review your resume and help you position it for the job you're trying to get.

Good luck.

You'll be fine. It is sooooo hard to find decent employees in any area right now, if you know what you are doing and present yourself well you'll be snapped right up!

I don't know if that's true or not, but that sounds pretty crazy to me. Experience is experience. I work for JCPenney and we have a couple of marketing jobs listed on the job board. Go to www.jcpenney.com and on the bottom of the page, click on career opportunities. I'd be happy to drop off your resume at the Human Resources Department myself too if that would help you.
