I'm needing to do some continuing education work in order to keep my teaching certificate valid. I'm behind a lot of hours since I've stayed home the last 2 years. The SBEC website has some online "courses" available. I'm wondering if any of you have done some of these or done any other work outside of your district's programs. Can you give me some feedback? THANKS!!

I did a couple for the same reasons, but then went back to work and took more than enough hours through the district. I found my courses through the SBEC website's links. I would recommend taking courses you would like to know more about, but would still apply to your current certification. Keep certificates of completion. It is my understanding they do not have to have it with your renewal, but could ask for it later. You can also read books and watch videos. Just record everything just in case, especially the time involved. Good luck!

I haven't done those, but my union offered some hours online. You read the text and answer the questions. It was pretty straightforward. http://www.atpe.org/Resources/ProfessionalDevelopment/ind...

Best of luck!

No I have not done them, but if you do let me know how it goes. I have been a SAHM for 4 years and have to renew in 2013. I am not sure why I have so much time, but I guess I will take it :).

I've been home for 3yrs. I contacted SBEC and was told as long as I had 150 hrs before renewal time. SBEC also mentioned the online courses on their site. I need to contact my former district's HR dept and get documentation of my professional development hrs. Let me know if you find out any more info.

I need to get started with the classes ASAP!
