Grandmother Looking for Playgrounds in Area

Our 3-year old grandson and family will be visiting the end of the month from Portland, OR. My daughter doesn't want to do a lot of long drives as she also has a 6-month old. Can anyone give me some advice on really nice playgrounds in the Laguna Hills, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, etc., area? We'll probably do a trip to Legoland, but would also like to take them to closer entertainment. (playgrounds).

What can I do next?

Laguna Niguel's Regional Park is a nice one. It has a playground, lake, lots of grass, covered picnic areas with BBQs, etc. Here's the address:

Laguna Niguel Regional Park
28241 La Paz Road
Laguna Niguel, CA 92677

There is a charge for parking - $6 I think.

Also, here is a link to website with a list of the parks in Laguna Niguel. Click on the Parks & Recreation tab to get to the list.

My mom lives near by and we take my son there. They have all types of things there (a lake w/ ducks to feed, hiking trails, play ground, etc.) Irvine Regional Park is a fun place as well. The ocparks website also has all the parks listed in Orange County. Have fun!!

There are lots of wonderful parks in the area! And then of course, there are the beaches.

Do check out the Irvine Park Railroad which I'm sure your grandson will enjoy -- there's a train ride and the OC Zoo is there too. You may check it out here:http://www.ocparks.com/I know my boys and I always have a good time when we are there!

I've also heard about the Laguna Hills Dino Park though I've never been there myself.

Good luck and have fun. I think that in the end, what your grandson will treasure most is time spent with you.

C.,
If you go to the City of Laguna Niguel Website http://www.ci.laguna-niguel.ca.us/

and do a search for parks a map will come up of all the parks in Laguna Niguel with restroom. I like going to Happy Sparrow Park and the Park at the YMCA in Laguna Niguel its across from the entry to the YMCA and the YMCA if open lets you use their bathrooms whioch are nice and clean. You can also go to Chuckee Cheese for indoor playing in Laguna Hills off of La Paz. The Laguna Hills Rec center has a Dinasour park as well. I hope you all have fun together..

Yes, there's a really great one in Laguna Hills. I don't know the official name but everyone calls it Dinosaur Park because there are statues there. It's huge, has lots to do and lots of grass. It's on Paseo de Valencia and Alicia in the Rec Center grounds.
Enjoy.

The park next to the Laguna Hills Community Center/Laguna Hills High School has a dinosaur theme... perfect for a 3-year old boy. Pack a picnic lunch, you'll be there for awhile!

Try Heritage Park in Irvine. It is near the 5 Freeway, off Walnut. The park is very large, with an art center and other buildings, but does have a good play park.

Hi C.,

Irvine Regional Park is nice. There are quite a few really nice parks in Irvine. My kids love Castle Park aka Northwood. Its located on the corner of Bryan and Yale. Bill Barber Park corner of Barranca/Harvard (next to Irvine City Hall). Enjoy your visit.
