Good Vacuum - Leesburg,VA

I LOVE my Oreck...had it for about 10 years. It is light and easy to use and comes with canister vac that we use on stairs.

My mom just got an Oreck based on my recommendation and LOVES it! She has mobility issues and cannot believe how easy it is for her to manuver and how great it picks up dirt, etc.

I've had my Dyson for 7 years now and I love it. It was well worth the money considering how well it works and how long it has lasted. Before my Dyson I had a Hoover and it was expensive too but it lasted less than two years. Whenever I need another vacuum I will definitely purchase another Dyson.

Dyson even makes a small canister vacuum if you don't want an upright.

*Dyson vacuums have a 5-year parts and labor warranty. You know if they have a 5-year warranty that they really stand behind their products.

We bought a Riccar upright (with a bag) a few years ago and love it. We brought home both the Riccar and a comparable Oreck from the same vacuum store for a home trial. I didn't like the Oreck as much. They cost practically the same thing.

We have a large dog that sheds a lot, and have 2 kids and we DO wear shoes in the house. No problems at all with this vacuum and it still works fabulously. I LIKE that it has bags... had a bagless vacuum before this and it was such a mess to empty--dust just went everywhere.

This vacuum is very light and easy to carry around one handed... so would work nicely with your 3 level needs.

edit: just read one of the other responses regarding the Oreck. Our Riccar also lays down almost flat and came with a handheld vacuum with ALLLLL the attachments. Our kids use it to vacuum out the car, lol. And I use it on ceiling fans, blinds, lamp shades, furniture, etc. It is great too.

Dyson. Worth every cent.

We just got a dyson, been putting it off because of the cost, but I really like this vaccum. It has pulled out more imbedded dust than I care to think about being there. We got the animal, because we do have pets, but the other one is cheaper if you don't need the extra stuff for pet hair.

The guy who rang us up at Lowes said that he has had one for a few years, and he takes the filter out to his garage and blows the dust out of it (he has a compressor) and that has kept it working like new.

I have a Dyson that i purchased refurbished 6 years ago...it is awesome! If and when this one dies i'll buy another.

we have a dyson and love it- (dc14)- it wroks great on pet hair, toddlers crumbs, everything. We also have 3 levels- the main level i vacumm EVERYDAY between the kids and pet hair. the canister dumps so easy. Remember that bed, bath and beyond price matches and you can use their 20% off coupon too so shop around online first- we had them price walmart, but sears, home improvment , NFM, ect carry them too. you usually have to have the price match ran thru a manager with the higher ticket items but we saved and additional $120 doing it this way- just print out the price match online and take it in :)

Ditto the other ladies with the Dyson. We have a DC17 and I love it. It actually makes allergy season much easier to deal with, because it sucks, it dusts, and gets all the nooks and crannies. Worth every cent.

well for "every day"; and an Electrolux that is fabulous for deep cleaning. Two brands for you to check out and see if they fill your bill. :)

I have a Dyson for my downstairs that I like because it has an attached hose I use all the time but it is really heavy. Would not want to carry it up and down stairs. It does an awesome job though.
My upstairs vacume is an Oreck that I love... It has a bag to collect dirt so you do not see the dirt like the Dyson but you have to periodically change the bag. It is extremely light weight I even use it on the stairs. It also lays down almost flat so you can vacuum under the beds. There are no attachments though.
I know you prefer bag less but for a 3 story house I would recommend the Oreck. Ours also came with a smaller handheld vacuum too.

Dyson, hands down. My husband grew up in a big house (with cats and carpet) in England, and his family had a Dyson to keep it clean for nearly a decade. His mom highly recommended it, and even though they're not big spenders, I never thought I would spend hundreds of dollars on a vacuum myself. But I finally caved in, sort of, when I got a major price cut on a new Dyson (~$150 in gift certificates and a 10% discount for starting a new account at Macy's).

This vacuum has been gentle yet effective on cat fur stuck on the blades of greasy ceiling fans, cobwebs drooping from ornate tin ceilings, stuff on the bottom of mattresses, our handwoven rugs, a/v equipment and laptop keyboards, dried exoskeletons of moths or other critters in the crevices of window sills and in lighting fixtures, and oh yeah, hardwood floors and carpets! Amazing how much it picks up stuff that I wouldn't even know was lurking, despite a no-shoes policy at home.

Since using the Dyson for the past 4+ years, I am convinced that my other vacuums were a waste of time and money. The deceptively lower price tags for those machines were actually a false economy because I'd have to pay special prices to get special bags, pay for special maintenance, special replacement parts, etc. If price is the bottom-line deciding factor, you'd be saving a lot more money if you beat your rugs outside with a stick, or get rid of all carpeting and use a Swiffer! ***Just make sure you clean the filter every now and then.

We bought a Rainbow back in 1997, and it still works as well as the day we got it. It is bagless - uses a water basin. We also qualified for the shampoo attachments. Cleans a carpet extremely well. If you buy it new it will cost quite a bit, but you can get a rebuilt Rainbow which is just like new. Look in the Yellow Pages.
