hi everyone

am 15 weeks pregnant , and my present ob/gyn is dr.supriya varma. am not that satisfied with her because she doesnt talk much. And i really have a doubt whether she has patience during my delivery,i feel she doesnt wait and just do c-section.

Should i stick with the same doctor am i have baised reviews of the doc some say she is a good professional even though she doesnt speak much.and some have opposite reviews like she is rude.

And how about dr.Roopa malapani Duggal at leesburg. her reviews are good when i browsed .

or how about dr.evelyn felluca,at reston

please pass the reviews of the above 3 doctors am highly confused now.
i would really appriciate your replies

So What Happened?

thanks a lot everyone for your reviews i really appreciate it.

i have an appointment with supriya varma in few days, so after that i will decide whether to change my doctor or not.
my only concern to change the doctor was,3 of my friends who went near her ended up in having c-section.

so i was in confused state whether to continue with her or not.but i agree she is a good professional
only thing is i feel she doesnt have patience.

thanks everyone

Hi!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hercharan Sethi. Her practice is in the Reston area and she delivers at Reston Hospital. She delivered my first baby and will be delivering my 2nd baby too (I am 23 weeks pregnant). She is extremely friendly and is a terrific doctor.

Hope this helps!

I don't know any of those doctors, but if you are looking in Reston, I would highly recommend Dr. Gigi Hafizi at ###-###-####. She has been my OB/GYN for many years and delivered both of my babies. She has a great beside manner, will answer all of your questions, and is just really nice.

I would highly recommend you check out Loudoun Community Midwives at the Birthing Inn at Loudoun Hospital, since it sounds like that is the area you are in. They are a fantastic practice of incredible midwives, your appointments will be personal and fulfilling, they spend lots of time with you, and will remain with you through your whole labor, not just pop in at the end like an OB would. They are a highly respected group in our area, and I can't say enough good things about them.

Hi there -

Couldn't believe it when I saw your post - I felt the SAME way about her - I, too, was a patient of Dr. Varma's, but wasn't happy at her practice b/c I got a different doctor every time I went in there (with no explanation) and it seemed Dr. Varma herself was completely over-worked and stressed out. She never gave us any "extra" information, or even any details on the pregnancy. She just seemed to do the bare minimum required and that was it. The original doctor I went to see there left the practice and I think it never really got back on track. Anyway, at 6 months pregnant I switched from there to Women First (Dr. Choudhary, but there are 3 doctors there and they are all great - I've had experience with all of them during my pregnancy). Women First is in the same building as Dr. Varma's office (first floor). I, too, had the feeling that Dr. Varma would pressure me into a C-section (turned out I had one anyway, but we did try natural labor first) and when I transferred to Women First, I was told that they had recently received several transfer patients from her office. I've been very happy with the care I've received from Women First. Dr. Choudhary delivered my son last year, and has been working with me recently on conceiving a second child (I'm on Clomid, etc.) I think if you give them a try you'll be very happy with them, too. You can schedule a meet & greet with one of the doctors and they will discuss the practice with you and any concerns you may have. Good luck! I hope you find a doctor you are comfortable with.

Dr Felluca was one of my doctors for my first pregnancy. For my second pregnancy I am happier with my new doctors - their practice has nicer reception staff and the doctors are so great with great bedside manner. I see Women First OB GYN in Reston www.womenfirstobgyn.com and would highly recommend them over other doctors that I have seen. Good luck!

I have Dr Duggal and she delivered my son, I LOVE her. Be aware though that she has a new OB in her office now (this happened after I had my son) and she has a PA. While I was pregnant, I didn't see her that often because I usually saw her PA, who was great, but if you're looking for a doc who will see you most, if not, all the time then you won't want Dr. Duggal. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing for OB's to do and I didn't have a problem with it since if there was a true problem I would obviously see her. She was there for the delivery though and was great.

I also got the names of two other drs when i was looking for an OB. Dr. Foster, he's in Leesburg, and delivered two of my friends kids and they love him!! Another name that I hear about is Dr. Stokes who is in Lansdowne. both of these dr's are also the on call doctors for Dr. Duggal when she's unavailable. Good luck!!

Hi

Wow, I am really surprised that you did not like her! She is my doc and has been for 15 years. She has done my surgeries and delivered both kids!!!
I have a totally different experience with her- and have referred a lot of people to her. I would talk with her- and tell her you would like to know when the best time of day to schedule appts are so that you feel like you have a lot of time to spend with her, and so you can get questions answered, etc.

I am really sorry you are not having a good experience with her- but I think you should,in every case with ANY doctor - demand what you need from them. This is what you pay them for.

I can tell you that - I ended up having an emergency c section and she was INCREDIBLY professional, caring and I had a few issues in both pregnancies and I credit her for them making it past the 16th week. She is INCReDIBLY smart. I hope you give her another chance, but let her or her nurse know that you are feeling vulnerable and would like a bit more time with her. ANd bring a list of questions. :)

She Dr Varma is one of the best in the buisness you will not regret making this decision.Compassionate kind and caring is what describes her and her practice. My whole family ,all three of my sisters go to her.Just won't switch to another practice. But please check her out and let me know.

I am familiar with all three through professional channels and would choose dr felluca of the 3 you have mentioned. She is professional, compassionate and most of all experienced with a good track record. Another ob/gyn I'd investigate is kathleen Rausch at Reston. The most important piece of advice I could give is go with your instincts. Good luck!
