Good Lip Balms?

My kindergartener has horribly chapped lips as well as the area all around his mouth. We have been putting Avon kids stuff on him, but I think he likes the flavor and licks at it, totally defeating the purpose. I was wondering what brands of lip balm or other treatment you Moms would recommend. His face looks so sore!

What can I do next?

I have used Boudreaux's Baby Kisses on my 22 month old since forever, love it. Find it at Target in the baby bath aisle near the diaper creams, etc. Good Luck!

Avon intensive therapy lip balm. Works the best and not as tasty as the cherry and other delicious flavors.
It is kind of plain but works wonderfully!

I use aquaphor for my daughter and I for chapped lips and really dry skin. You can go to the travel size isle and get it in a small tube to try. It says it is for dry chapped skin. It is a white tube with a blue top. I love it and bought a big one because I use it so much. Hope that helps!

It's not really lip balm, but I put Aquaphor ointment on my kids lips & faces at bed time to help when they're chapped. I put it on their lips, around their lips, and on the area beneath their noses when they have bad colds. It doesn't taste great so they don't lick it.

Been there. Use neosporin around the outside of the lips and regular blistex on the lips. It was the only thing that worked.
Good
luck.

Hi E.,

Burts Bees is the best you can get and it is all natural. My 4 year old niece has severe chapped lips. and last week when she was over her lips felt so much better after she used it, she wants me to buy her some. it is great, and works FAST!!

I totally suggest Burts Bees. You can buy it at Walmart now, and at Cracker Barrel.

I've used Aquafore for the same issue. Worked wonderfully - I put it on at bedtime so it can stay on overnight without being licked off.

My first grader was having the same problem...we went with Burt's Bees - the honey one. She doesn't like mint. It doesn't have a lot of flavor so it doesn't encourage licking and it stays on well. I also let her take it in her pocket so she can reapply before heading out for recess. I use carmex on my own lips when they get really bad, but she doesn't like it. Good Luck!

Recently I had a cold sore that wasn't going away quick enough even though I was using Abreva. A co-worker told me she used something called Carmex for chapped lips and it helps get rid of cold sores quickly. I bought some in a 3 pack in the Health and Beauty department at Walmart. It helped right away. I gave one of the tubes to my son and its really helped his chapped lips too.

Hi! My 6 year old always is having dry chapped lips and sometimes cracks in the corners of his mouth. ouch. (i suspect eczema (sp?) could be to blame.) Anyway, his favorite (it has a very lite fragrance that he likes) and mine is the Johnson's Soothing Naturals that a previous poster mentioned in the lite green dispenser. I found it in Target in the baby section.

Second favorite is the Chap Stick that says cocoa butter in the name. Sorry our one stick has gone missing this morning so I can't tell you the actual name! It has staying power, isn't waxey, and doesn't burn his lips like some others when they are really chapped.

Hope that helps! Oh, and I ALWAYS apply one of the above right before bed so those lippys have some healing time during the nite! :)
