For Christmas this year we drew my husband's aunt's name for the gift exchange. On her list is a bottle of red wine. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good bottle of red wine with the price range of $20-$30. We would like to get her something made close to North Texas. She lives in the Kansas City area and thought it would be nice to give her something she can't get there. Even if you don't know of a good wine if maybe someone could direct me to a good local wine dealer who would be able to help us in our quest. Thank you for your help.

Have a great day,

C.

Check out the Grapevine area.

Also, good wine stores.... Locations are Shops of Legacy in Plano (Tollway/Legacy) Lakeside Shoopping Center in Plano (Spring Creek/Preston, S&K Beverage has a great selection Plano (75/Spring Creek), Goody Goody and Sigels in Addison.

Our favorites are a great Merlot. Sterling makes some good ones from an everyday bottle around $13 to the nicer bottles upwards of $50.

Grapevine and McKinney may have the local flavors you are looking for.

Happy shopping and tasting!!

I knew there were wineries in North Texas so I googled wineries north texas and got www.weekendwinery.com. It list all the wineries in Texas. It could be a good place to start. Also, I would assume that these wineries have reasonably priced tastings. Maybe you and your husband can go to a tasting as a date and find something for his aunt. This way you get time together and get the wine. I love Deadly Zins. It's made in California though. Also, try going to the book store or library and see if they have Wine Spectator magazine. Each month it lists the top wines in all price ranges.

My favorite bottle of red wine in that price range is La Crema Pinot Noir.

As for local wine, there is Top Ten Cellars in Lakewood, I believe the carry their own wine. Another great place to go for advice is the Wine Therapist in Lakewood as well.

Downtown McKinney has two great places to try. Landon Winery which makes their own has an amazing Pinot Noir and many others to choose from. Then there is Lonestar Wine Cellars which has a large assortment of Texas wines. One of my favorite vineyards in Texas is Messina Hof. Hope that helps!

Best place to go is Costco. You can buy wine there without being a member. The better wines are in the wood box. Read the descriptions and scores for all the bottles in your price range. They should have something that will fit your needs and you won't overpay like in wine shops.

Landon Winery in Mckinney will let you sample then Purchase. They make all the wines. That's North Texas. There's another one too, I think it's called Wales Manor, but there are two wineries here in McK.
